I was on the DRC site to look at the Kore kits and saw the intake for the BHAF for the 3rd gens. Has anyone used it?

I found it. That looks like a nice setup. I think I will order one on monday. The setup I have now with the stock tube is anything but good-lookin.

Just curious if it will suck in water being open like that and exposed through the front grille.

From the DRC website"

It traps the smaller particles and the bigger ones just fall off the surface, making it the ultimate filter for dry, western conditions. The DRC BHAF is the cure for your off road filtration problems. .

Yes, most definitely it will get wet. In the winter, I put my stock intake back on, as one trip in a rainstorm will soak my PG7. The 325/600's are less susceptible, as there's a shroud between the intercooler/radiator and the headlight. That makes it more difficult for water to get in, but I'm sure in a good downpour it will still get wet.

I wonder what happens to a BHAF when it gets wet? Does it collapse? I'd like to replace my AFE with one, as paper is the best filtration you can get.

We have been rigorously testing in the Desert Thunderstorms of recent. 5 Inches in an hour is not uncommon for us. I have had the BHAF on with the water resistant Outerwares cover the whole time. I can hose off the engine and not get it wet. A puddle or two wouldn't hurt it either. The filter is not designed to be ran under water but can handle alot of punishment in the heavy rain.

Greg, does the outerwear hurt performance at all? Also, is the pipe used powdercoated to prevent corrosion?

Thanks

The Outerwares doesn't hurt performance much if at all. There is no difference in IAT temps without the cover. The steel pipes are poweder coated in black. The Carbon Fiber tubes will be natural Carbon Fiber. Expect pictures of the CF mount in a month or so.

By the way, in my many years of riding modified Jet Skis and WaveRunners, I've learned that Outerwears do perform very well at repelling water. However, there is a time limit. After about a year or so, the water repellent abilities are greatly diminished.

Sweet !! Carbon Fiber! Major price difference?

Also, just curious if you have performed any test to see if it dropped the EGT numbers at all?

It is a little tough on my 03 to compare the cooling. With 4 inch exhaust, DD Jammer Turbo and the BHAF my Juice/Attitude can barely hit 1200* I will be testing it on the 06 truck with just guages to see what is up. IAT and Boost and EGT's will all be monitered.
