Had it done. I fired up the truck. The low end was vastly improved. Mileage was way up. Shut it down. Now its gone and worse than ever. Lost my low end torque, it will maintain speed up a hill but it lost its get up and go ability. Mileage is down down down. Ive also developed a touchy pedal and it feels like its gonna stall if I let off the pedal too fast.

Have you guys figured out any solution?

Yup, its called an edge comp and DD3's. :D

Sorry to hear about your 98 getting burned down. That is the reason I don't go out to knik to ride the ATV any more, darn hilbillys out there don't like is folks from the big city.

By the way, installed your old Super Mentals on another truck and they work great. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it. I miss em some times.

My priorities have changed a little. I got married this spring and I am thinking about a cheaper ride. Ive been looking at a subaru but the dealers are butt munches. First they tell you the vehicle is worth twice what it actually is then they tell you yours is worth half of its actual worth. They dont have to screw everyone that comes through the door do they. A decent deal will make em a buck and keep me coming back. But a screwin wont win my loyalty. Which is why I dont shop at continental motors btw. One screwin is good enough for me.

Random thought. This program affects the torque managment system. OK. Heres what I need. Can everyone who had the reflash respond. I need to know if using the truck for heavy towing affects the parameters of the program. I had a bad response to the reflash but I DO NOT tow heavy EVER. Im curious to see if the heavy towers experience a better result to the reflash, which was more or less aimed at the heavy towers to start with. Please respond!!!

how many have gotten there 99's reflashed? where do u do it at the dealer? im getting terrible fuel milage i dont tow anything and never will in this truck! i drive about 50-60 miles a day and can barely get over 400 miles to a tank of fuel! just looking for anyway to get better milage.

by the way i have 275's and a edge drag comp just on the 1st setting. plus im getting a full DTT trans and DD3's in a few weeks. ive heard of getting alot better mileage with the injectors dont know how but whatever! will it hurt to get reflashed with these mods? i still dont know how everyone is getting 18-22mpg with all the mods and everything! the first week i had the truck i got 505 miles to my first tank ever since then 450 or less and lately its been 415 or so!

Nothing wrong with a Subaru Crazy Horse... I fix them for a living. I've worked on Subaru's with over 300,000 miles on the original engine/trans (highest I've seen was 386,000 - '92 Legacy). My wife drives a '01 Outback and loves it. It isn't a truck, that's for sure, but all wheel drive + reliability + economy = Subaru (oh yeah, I almost forgot, newer models are safer than ever also). Back to the subject. Have you tried going back to the dealer and demanding a re-re-flash  My '00 gets a consistent 19. 5 on the highway, 15-17 in town. Who did the reflash? Was there any other work done at the same time?

Reflash

I had this reflash done in Phoenix when I bought the truck before I brought it home (bought it off a friend of mine). The power increased very slightly and the mileage went down a little. This was one of those trucks that was getting 20-22 MPG. Now it gets about 17-19. I'm not complaining, it runs excellent.

Flash

I bought my 99 used & it had the re-flash done by the previous owner so I don't know what the benefit was. I typically get between 18-20 depending upon how hard I push the GO pedal... .

Big Daddy,

I had a power problem last year when I bought this truck and had that reflash done... . Didn't really see any difference. There may have been a slight seat of the pants feeling without a trailer, but pulling my racecar trailer, it was still a dog...

Mileage seemed to be the same too... . I guess I should be happy it didn't screw it up worse.

Stick a cheapie used fueling box on it and be done. They're pretty easy to come by. I bought my edge box for 200 bucks used... been on here almost a year without a problem.

400 per tank I wish I was gettin that

same here got the truck in Nov 02 ( it's a 99 also ) & was gettin close too 625-650 too a tank empty 400-450 heavy

dealer did the reflash & down down down down down it went

now it's like 300 +/- empty & 225-250 heavy

I would love too know why this is , I was startin too think

that it was just mine that did this & I would have too live w/ it =

cuz none of us can seem too figure it out & D/C's like dahhhh I don't , sorry can't help want too buy a new truck

NO ! :-{}

18-11-99 should not on its own degrade your power or mileage, its designed to do the opposite. Early on, guys were getting "the reflash" only to find out they were getting a reflash for early 98. 5 models that dealt with emissions, and it killed both power and mileage.

When they do the flash, they note it on a silver sticker usually placed around the front of the engine compartment, like on the painted cowling above the radiator... ... ... ... ... ..... it will have the flash number written on it in ballpoint pen. That will tell you what flash was done. You could still have that stupid emissions flash in there, however. Be a pleasant pest, hang all over the service guy and see just what they are squirting in your truck.

As said before, my mpg went wayyy up, power went up, made big difference. I have auto, 4x4 with 4:10, and when all is right and I keep it around 2000 rpms, I can easily get 22 mpg no problem. Now however, I suspect I may be a victim of the lift pump fiasco... ... ... anyway, over 3 years with 18-11-99, no complaints.

Anchorage chrysler dodge. I think it was one of the grey hairs in the back. The service manager wrote on the service ticket per my request that the tech go by the book while installing the flash.

I also had the cold idle 3 cylinder enabled. I have 275s and a comp. Im just using the comp as a boost fooler right now. The TC is not liking me. The good side is the TC doesnt slip any more. :(

There is a fast warm up reflash. It slowly ramps up the rpms too 1200 rpm and then kills off 3 cylinders making the other 3 drag them along. Warming the engine warm up much faster. Cummins and dodge approved. I think if you have less than 36k they will do it for free.

I put the DDIII's in mine and the gas mileage went down hill!!! I found that the best fuel mileage was the 275. I did have the DDI's too. I would just put the trans in and t/c and then drive it. You will feel better pick up and better mileage just with the trans.

I have the 18-11-99 flash and what a joke of a flash it is. I even work for a DLR :--)

What was changed from the reflashed '99 to the '00? If your getting 300 to a tank there is something wrong regardless of bombs.

I had the re-flash done in July 1999, six months after I bought the truck. Fuel mileage per gallon did not increase, but acceleration through the power band was smoother and power was more evident between 1400 and 1800, where prior to the reflash, there was a sudden kick in at 1800. I've never had any problems with power since the re-flash.

I had the reflash done when the truck was a few months old. It increased power. Didn't affect mileage.
