If you are going to drill out the AN-6 fitting, try to find a steel one. It will be much stronger than the aluminum fittings. The problem with drilling out the fitting is, as you enlarge the hole you are removing the surface that forms the seal as you can see from the photo. I measured a 0. 295” opening in the male straight fitting and only a 0. 260” opening in the female hose end. There is no way you can open up the female hose end and have a reliable connection. Just my 2 cents.
if these are the fittings your talking about drilling out, that might not be a good idea. I am not sure how much pressure will be on the line but the flare you want to drill out is what makes the seal not the treads I am a plumber but not a diesel tech lol
