how hard is it to redo the drive line seals... i have three of them leaking and need to get it done and didn't know if it would be better to have a shop do it

thanks

It depends on what is making them leak ( old age and brittle / bad bearings or bushings if it is a tail shaft / vibration / groves in the yokes ) ? I suggest that you use the specs off of the Service Manual and replace the seals and re-tighten them down to the propper pre-load. If you have access to air power tools then you should be able to do it all. If you don't have a Manual than ask away , I for one would be glad to look up the torque specs on what Ya' need and post it for you. Good luck, Thomas

Thomas, Off topic here but I have to ask. How/Why did you get a snowplow prep package in Florida?

FF1381, Back on topic. If you are reasonably mechanically inclined, you can handle this but I strongly suggest you have a service manual by your side.

Parcher - You are the first person to mention that on the TDR . Good eye !

The sales people thought I was NUTS when I spec'd the truck out.

I did a lot of research on what springs come with each truck and what options they come with. I ordered it with the snow-plow pkg. for the upgrade in springs. The truck does sit a little taller than similar equiped trucks and it had a tag with " severe service duty " on the truck when I got it. There is a whole lot of info on what springs are used by the combo of options that are ordered.

I just told the dealer ,that I ordered it at, that I was moving to Alaska and needed the snow plow option to avoid all the dumb looks . Besides it was only $85. 00 more. Thomas
