Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Drive Line Whine

Maybe I am getting paranoid. Or maybe my hearing is getting *better* with age. My truck seems to have a whine at steady state cruise. If I accelerate or slow down, it goes away. It's speed dependent. I get it in 4th and 5th gear. , but I can't recall if the pitch varies by gear.



I don't recall ever hearing this before. Should I jsut turn up the radio?

Have you checked for a turbo or exhaust leak?

No, and that's a good idea. Boost looks OK on the gauge, bit it won't hurt to check.

Only in Fourth Gear

I had a look at the turbo fittings, and they are OK. No exhaust leaks. The whine is at steady state speeds and only in fourth gear.



Anybody else have this? Serious? Or should I just turn up the radio?
