Type me thru (or post a real one) a drive train schematic. e.g. engine output shaft connects to ? that connect to ?

Please include the transfer case any any electrical devices related to the transfer case and 4wd selectors.

Thanks,
John

Engine connects to transmission with a clutch or torque converter. Transmision connects to the t-case with an output shaft splined into t-case input. T-case connects to differentialx with drive shafts.

Now, what are you really trying to ask or get to????

Check my other recent post for what I'm trying to get at.

I'm trying to better understand the drive train and why in gear I have no movement or the truck can roll downhill.

So it seems that maybe power is going into transfer case but not leaving.

Got it. Either the t-case is going into neutral for some reason or the trans is not engaging the parking pawl correctly.

The trans parking pawl is a manul linkage so one could assume malfuntioning once it would malfunction all the time. The t-case engagement is via eletronic motor controlled by a module. It would not be out of the realm of possibility of it sensing an error and parking itself in neutral to minimize damage. It is alos quite likely the knob is sending it the worng signal, or, there is something on the data bus that is messing with the signal.
