Could somebody explain the differences in real world driveability between a small set of towing twins(i. e. - Arctic Air twins, BD twins) vs. the newer technology of the 62mm turbos (i. e. - SPS62, SuperStock 62. . ) when there is enough fueling for about 400-450 Hp. I'm thinking of using a Smarty on the upper settings for a daily driver and I'm trying to make up my mind the best way to go turbo wise.

Thanks for any input.

If you can afford the compounds and have the patience to get them set up properly (wastegated correctly) they are hard to beat for everyday driveability. Virtually no turbo lag, even power all through the rpm range.

The 62's that you mentioned are going to have lag, I dont care how heavy you fuel them down low. The Smarty helps somewhat, but they still will not light until 1350/1400 rpm, and then they will hit pretty hard. It just takes a small adjustment in your driving habits to get familiar with their behavior.

Don't get me wrong, I truly love my Silver62 and I probably will never go with compounds... ... :-laf

If you go with one of the turbo's you mentioned as a single, you can always use it as your top turbo later, but it still will not spool as soon as your stocker!

Hope that helps, Jess
