I have a 2005 2500 QC, 6spd,4x4. Which moduled is preferred between the VA-C3. 1, the Quad XZT and the Edge EZ. I was thinking about the Smarty; but some of the talk here lately is putting me off a bit. My truck is still stock. I will be getting an AFE Blade Runner, maybe an air box and a muffler delete pipe or high flow muffler. How is the driveability with those modules. thank you,

Does VA have a box for the '05? Somehow I thought they didn't. I have the quadzilla standard box and run it daily on the 60hp setting, which should be very similar to the XZT tow box. Drivability is excellent, no issues for me. I think the VA is timing and duration only, the EZ is pressure only and the XZT uses pressure with timing and duration. Though I could be wrong, I think that is the case.

I stepped up to the QZ standard box for the adjustability, and it was hardly any more money to get a 100hp option to play with over the XZT. I have the muffler delete, love it. Instead of somebody's cold air intake system, consider a new intake horn. I have the CFM+ and found it was a much better upgrade than the CAI system. The stock airbox and filter flow plenty for what you want to do. I noticed much better throttle response and reduced EGTs with the air horn. The only thing the CAI did was increase the amount of turbo whistle you hear. Get gauges if you don't have them. With a six speed I think the ideal gauge is the westach dual, get the 50 psi version too. I mounted mine in the SRT10 pillar which keeps the grab handle.

Good Luck

I am not positive about the VA box. Someone mentioned it in one of their replies to me; but I thought I saw a C3. 1 for the 2005 trucks. I think it was rated at 70hp and 200 lb' torque, which is similar to what you are running power-wise.

I know the VA boxes typically are heavy on the torque side, which is nice. Maybe they just didn't have an application for my '06 with the different wiring harness from the '05s.

You will love the power. Mine is awesome for passing on two lanes, even at 7-8000ft altitude. This is the first truck I have modded, and I can tell you, once the bug bites, it is hard to resist:p Any more than I have though and it is probably clutch time, and who knows what else. It seems really reliable and not overstressed as it is though.

VA3. 1 is pressure only, the VA3. 2 is their duration only box. EZ is pressure only and I have no idea what the Quad box uses. VA also has a new box called the 5. something it is supposed to do pressure, timeing and duration and let the end user tweek the tune via a laptop or download alternate tunes. I haven't heard any reports on this last box but it sounds interesting.

I just put some Toyo MT's 295/70R/17 on my truck. So I think I need some more power now. :D I think an honest 40-70 hp boost would do it. I have no intentions of drag racing the truck. I would have bought an automatic for that. Did you get your guages through Geno's? How about the pipe... or did you just go to a muffler shop?

just make sure your honest with yourself... Will you want more later? 1,2,3 year later??

If you buy a module that you can grow into, you wont be re-buying in 2 years... (maybe a TST? or a VanAaken C5?)

From testing I can tell you the EZ made more HP, but the VA was easier on the truck and smoother

I second the Quadzilla, only the X2 version. With the Commander you will have 6 different settings, 0-35-45-65-100-140. I have it and it is very smooth, useful power. Pretty fair price also. Scotty

My gauges and pillar mount came from Geno's, the muffler was gone when I bought the truck. The only problem with just going to an exhaust shop is that they do not always have the ability to do 4" pipe.
