driveline clunk?

Once again I find myself looking to the other owners out there for help with a problem I am having. I have a 00 3500 with around 24,000 miles, 4x4. When I start from a dead stop it feels like the drivetrain is playing catch up with the motor etc. it does not clunk or make any type of sound,however i do feel something in the seat of the pants. Dealer has replace tc, trans, and transfer case for the possibility of the chain in the transfer case and whatever in the trans. . The slack in the ring/pinion is within specs. I am beyond guessing at this point and am beggining to wander if the rear is shifting/torquing and maybe the springs are slapping a bit. Its got me scratching the hat holder. Any thoughts?

A broken motor mount can produce those kind of symptoms.

work 2much, thanks for the reply, motor mounts seem fine. still feels like some kind of driveline slack. one of those things where you ride around with feet on the pedals and head hanging out door looking under truck. guess i will find it one day.

Seriously, a couple other things to check, transmission fluid level (I'm sure you've already checked), shift linkage to make sure it is not between gears, can't think of anything else at the moment. Might give Bill Kondolay a call http://www.dieseltrans.com/DTTech/index.sht.

I know what your talking about, mine does it too. But I have had other 4x4's of mine do it also. I have jacked trucks up completely off ground, in neutral and can I rock the driveshaft alot. I figured it has to do with the transfer case even though it seems the drag of the automatic should take up this play. ???

It actually feels like something sliding backwards about 6 inches then stopping suddenly.

Hope we can get a definitive answer on this.

Do you get any "thud/clunk" type noise when the rear wheels hit a dip or bump that almost sounds like something is lose?

driiveline clunk cont.

jandr, i rarely hear an actual noise when this happens. it simply feels like there is about 2 inchs of slack in the driveline that is taken up everytime i take off. i feel like it is in the discs of the limited slip but can not be sure yet. as you have seen in my other posting, everything else has been replaced. the actual driveshaft, ring yolk, ring/pinion feel good and tight to the touch,however when you lift the wheels off the ground and turn the wheel until everything stops, you can then apply a greater umph to wheels/tire and turn the axle causing the wheel to revolve about another 2-3 inchs. this seems very strange to me because in my past goats the limited slips had no free movement to them at all, if you turned one wheel the other moved the same way. i hope i am narrowing in, the truck goes back to dealer on monday to look at my theory. i will let you know of any positive feedback.
