:-laf A friend has a 2003, is experiencing vibration between 28 to 33 mph. Nothing obvious wrong with the driveline, ujoints, carrier bearing et'c. I thought I heard of an issue with this problem, and a correction, but cant find info. Any help will be appreciated.

Mine just started doing that a couple weeks ago, but the speed range was much greater, between 20-70. I replaced the rear U-joint, and all is well once again. As a side note, my rear joint was dry as a bone and badly corroded, although you could not tell from looking at it when it was still on the truck. After it was removed and inspected, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I had a low speed vibe and had both joints replaced with Precision 351's. After that, my truck had a high speed vibe from 50 on up.

I had the shaft sent to a driveline shop. They told me it's the balancer on the front of the propeller shaft that's bad.

They're charging $150 to remove it and balance the shaft. Hopefully that's the problem, and not the way the joints were installed.

I had a vibration too... exactly what these guys said... the ujoint corrodes inside and then seizes on one axis... I have both joints in the rear replaced and also had that shaft balanced... it was out of balance at the diff.

I have replace EVERY ujoint in this truck at 72k... all were bad on at least on of the four pins.

I had a persistant vibration in my 2nd Gen above 45 or so. But when I got my trans rebuilt they sent my driveshaft out for balancing and it really cured the vibration problem.

Thanks for the input, will look into all. I noticed my '96 reg cab had a damper on the shaft, my '98 doesn't. Friends '03 does. What gives? '98 and '03 both quad cabs.

I had a new driveshaft put in a couple of days ago for the 70 mph vibe, seems to have fixed the problem. . A guy at the dealership told me that he thought DC is well aware of the problem but they will sometime deny things until a certain time period passes for warranty work and will then issue a TSB for the problem, but YOU will have to pay for them to fix it at that point..... Who knows... .

BTW- DC has changed vendors on the driveshafts at least once since 04. 5 ;)

Before trading on my 06 Megacab, my 03 3500 DW had gone through two sets of U joints in less than 60000 miles. Dealer did one set I did the second, after ready on the factory bearing's I went with the 351's. As indicated in a previous post from the exterior the bearing looks fine, once off they are dry and burned up, yet my dealer's service guy said he has yet to hear of a problem with them.
