On my 2004 dually both the driver and passenger front door is gouging the rubber molding upon opening and closing the doors. The gouging occures at the same height on the doors as the lowest point on the windshield. I guess a picture may be worth a thousand words. Is anyone else having this problem and if so is there a fix?

I had the same problem on my '03 and had the dealer fix it last week. There is a TSB out for the '03s, but I thought DC would have fixed that by the time the '04s came out. I don't recall the number, but if you want it, I can go out and look at my copy of the job ticket in the truck.

My dealer replaced the door seal on both front doors and takes about 30 minutes to complete. They did a good job, looks just like factory, and the corner of the door doesn't touch the seal when opening and closing it. :D

Yes, both my truck and a buddy who got his at the same time started ripping the rubber gasket from day one. I will be surprised if most everyones truck isn't doing the same. Just trim it back with a sharp knife unless someone else has found a better fix.

Yup, TSB is out on the 04s as well. They say there is an updated part that they replace the ripped ones with, that is supposed to not tear. I had it done, but it's too new to tell yet, if it withstands the door. Mine looks new, and no air or water leaks, so they did the job right.

I have had mine replaced with the newer softer rubber gasket. It is still tearing the surface of the lip closest to the door. It looked good after dealer replaced. It also does not make the same squeeky rubber noise it did with the original gasket. Someone obviously did not do their homework on this one. If that is all that winds up being wrong with the truck, we will all do pretty good.

My rig is three weeks old and has about 1800 miles on it and the door seals are starting to tear. I put some electrical tape on the inside part of the door where is makes contact with the rubber moulding. I'll keep an eye on it. I have an idea that my solve that problem, but I want to see if this free fix works.

I am just trying to prevent it before it happens making it unsightly.
