MStaggs,

Why do you have the air vent control on floor and panel? The air, technically would be warmer in that situation because of the lower restriction from having more "open ends" after the fan.

If you had it on Panel re-circ it should be colder,, or atleast blow harder...

THAT is a VERY good point! I always run it that way because it has been so hot here lately that it just feels better that way to me. However, should I still have a difference from side to side? I have run and tested it with it on the panel vents only also (just no pics) and THAT is when my wife was really *****ing at me. I have tried everything to make her happy and now she refuses to take the truck anywhere until this is resolved. My side is just fine. Hers is the one with the "issue".

Mt neighbor has a 05 and said his AC was FINE. BULL! I went to luch with him the other day and it wouldn't cool for crap. In fact when starting off from a stop the right side vents blew warm/hot air out same as mine does. He said OH it seems ok on LONG TRIPS.

I was noticing that the vent temps on my AC would rise from 40* when driving to 60* when stopped at a light when set for fresh air. I mentioned this to a service tech when I was getting the safety inspection done on my truck last month. She said that is was "probably high head pressure" in the AC. $165 to evacuate and refill the system. Haven't had it done yet because of the discussion here. They could hit me for $165 over and over while they track down any number of things that don't solve the problem. Funny thing is that when driving on the highway I consistently get 39*-40* on the fresh air setting. So I've been driving with it set on recirculate this summer and the system has that AC stank. DP, I remember you mentioned something a while back that dealers use to clean the evaporator. I think you said that they stick a hose up the drain tube from below the truck and charge some good coin to do it. Do you know the name of the product and whether we can buy it at the local auto parts store? I stopped by O'Reilly the other day and all they had was an aerosol you sprayed into the vents. For what they charged I could keep a can of Lysol in the truck and be just as happy.

165. is way to much. Take a drive to San Antonio and I will get it done for $45. plus $15. for the frion and oil. Goodyear shops only charge about $90.

The product use to and bet still can be ordered through the D. C. parts dept. Ask a D. C. tech or service writer(maybe parts)to run the tsb for Ac/heater box odors. (The TSB is NOT model specific)It actualy has some steps to take to make it work more efficent. Such as heat on HOT/high etc. It was not a high dollar item. I also bet Ford/G. M. etc. has the same type product/tsb etc. The TSB applied to all models with rank smells etc. It works at least for a while.

I had my truck at a dedicated A/C shop to have them go over the system. I was having the passenger side warmer temps issue also. They evac'd and recharged the system and the tech said the head pressure kept getting too high because the fan clutch wasn't locking up.

I looked in the service manual to see how to check the fan clutch and besides hooking up to a DRBIII there is a spin test that you can do when the engine is cold. Spin the fan by hand and if you can get it to spin more than 5 times, it fails. It takes a few tries because the fluid settles out but after a few spins I could get mine to go around about 6 times. So I ordered a new one and put it on this weekend. So far it seems that the different temps issue is fixed.

BTW, spin tested the the new fan clutch and it will pretty much come to a stop as soon as you let go.

Just something else to look at.

The 1500 and Durango have a seperate electric condenser fan that comes on when ac is on period. The diesels don't have enough room for one. Also was informed some Nissan products had a poor ac cooling issue and they retro fitted some models with a seperate electric condenser fan to correct the issue.

What are you doing to bypass the fin temp sensor to get temps down that cold. (19 to 30)Also how are you stopping the evaporator from freezing over when it drops below the 32 degree mark?

Mine was doing the same thing. Kept going back and they could not find any leaks. After 3 trips in, I told them to evacuate the system, clean it out and install NEW freon, not the old freon. It has worked better then it has in a long time. I now get cold air on both sides. Nothing was done to any vent doors. It seems that my system may have been contaminated and had moisture in the lines. It will not cool down if that's the case. Hope this helps.

they said mine was low... . they added more and added leak detectant dye.

barely helped.

i hit the throttle once today and the AC cut off until i let off the throttle today! whats the deal with that? it was about 1/4 throttle, unloaded, taking off from a stoplight.
