I'm hoping some of you have had this same problem, and maybe tell me how to fix it. My driver side door has a bolt in the middle at the bottom of the rear, facing and about lined up with the fuel door, just to be clear. That bolt has actually BROKEN the metal that holds it in twice now, I'm talking ripped from the door with a chunk of metal still on it. The good news is the dealer is still covering it under warranty. any thoughts?

Redrocket, I know what bolt your talking about but on my Newer truck its not there. I only have 3 trox head screws holding the door latch mech. in and one for the window guide. Maybe someone else will chim in here. Pete

Red Rocket,

I had a '95 2500 that had the same bolt you are talking about that ripped through the sheet metal. Mine was not under warranty but I just used a large fender washer under the bolt head to hold it in place. If I'm not mistaken there was a TSB on this matter that I saw on here or in one of the earlier issues of the TDR magazine that tells of this problem. I think it requires the door panel to be removed and some metal welded in place to stiffen this area up.
Hope this helps.

Phil
