anybody else's driver window slower than passenger window when rolling up? Down is same speed, but going up it seems the drivers side skips near the top. Minor problem, but very annoying on a brand new truck. Dread taking it into local Dodge dealer. . :(

If I try and roll both up at the same time my driver's side will roll up faster than the passenger side. Mine has done this since I've owned the truck and the dealer replaced the passenger side motor and it still did it. I don't really notice it that much any more.

Seems common.....

The ones on my truck are aftermarket and do this also. Every car I have had with power windows seems to do this. I wouldn't worry unless it's way slower than the other side.

I have four power windows on my car! Use to drive me insane. The solution is to roll one window up at a time. :D

Actully, the problem is usually how tight the window is seated in the channel. This can sometimes be adjusted. I would probably look into it if you really have a slip. Often times the driver's is the fastest because it is used the most and wears down the channel.

Now try having a race with the power front seats! ;)

Get To The Dealer

If something is wrong with a power window let the dealer replace it. You will not believe how expensive those units are. Dealer replaced mine the day I got the truck. Took an hour. ;)

Anybody else have a problem with the driver side (auto-down) window getting 'stuck' in the channel, especially on cold/dewy mornings? Is this normal? Sometimes I have to hit the 'auto' switch a couple of times (or open and close the door) to free the window from the channel. Thanks for any input! ZMAN

Slow Window

A friends '98 had the windows slow down, after greasing the assembly (inside the door) and not improving the speed we sprayed the front and rear tracks with some CRC silicone spray part number 05074 and cured the problem. Did the passenger side without disassembly and it also worked like new. I just hate taking the door panel off.

My drivers window gets about half way up and slows down big time. It doesn't matter if I'm doing both windows at the same time or not. Its also slow going down until it gets to about the half way point. At some point I will take it to the dealer and get it fixed.

The CRC heavy duty silicone spray in the channels is the ticket, will also help keep the windows from freezing shut in the cold. Also use it on the door seals to make them last longer. Dodge service manual recommends the silicone spray as required maintenance, owners manual makes no mention of it.

Slow Windows

Yep,

the silicone spray is the ticket. It works fine (for me) to spray it in the channels without doing anything but lowering the window all the way down. Also leave it down till it is thoroughly dry helps. Usually lasts a few month b4 needing it again. I always do it on any used vehicle I buy or on my familys vehicles.

Take it in.

DD,

Mine had a similar problem and the dealer replaced the window accuater (motor and hardware). They did it first time I brought it to their attention, no hassles. This really was a first. Ususally, it take 3-4 times.

If I sit in the middle of the seat and crank them both at the same time the drivers side is a little slower, but then I am right handed... . ;)
