I noticed the other day that the bushing had fallen out of place on the drivers side door hinge on my 95 3500. It is the collared bushing on the pin that rolls across the regulator which stops the door at full open or half open. Upon looking at the passengers door to reference the problem I noticed that it looks like the hinge on the passengers door is the same hinge, only upside down from the drivers side. The problem is, it appears that the bushing is in correct placement on the passengers side, but upside down on the drivers side (the collar is on the bottom on the drivers side, thus inherently allowing gravity to pull it out of place)

I also noticed that the window and regulator sounded loose inside the door, and upon inspection, I noticed that there is a torx-head bolt under the door latch which has pulled halfway through the sheet metal. I assume this is causing the rattling, but haven't had time to pull the door panel and investigate yet.

Has anyone else experienced these problems, and are there any good solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the part numbers from the model year 2000 parts catalog. I imagine the hinges are the same model year 1995.

  • 55075956AB HINGE, Door Upper Right
  • 55075957AB HINGE, Door Upper Left
  • 55275464AA HINGE, Door, Lower
Notice that the upper hinges come in both a left and right hand flavor. The lower hinge is identical both sides.

A parts search at http://allchryslerparts.com/ will show that some (all?) of the part numbers above have been superceded by newer part numbers.

I replaced the hinge pins and bushings on mine, and also found I needed shims to get the door in the right spot. Those pin kits in the help section in the auto store work ok. You may have problems with the bushing popping out. I used a bushing with a longer shank from another kit and reamed the hole a bit larger to fit.

I have a 95 2500, regular cab. The door "regulators" on my truck are shot on both the driver and passenger sides. This results in a horrible squeak and groan as the door is opened/closed. So you are not alone in your troubles.
