Finally got around to installing the power heated tow mirrors to my truck this afternoon. When I removed the door panel, I found an electrical connector that I wondered what it's purpose was. ( See Attached Pics )

I also wondered what the torque would be on the 10 mm nuts that connecet the mirror to the door??

Wire Connection Still a Mystery

My door locks, window, mirror all work without anything connected to this "mystery" connection!

I have looked through the owners manual and cannot figure out what it is. When I took the trim panel off, there was nothing connectd to it.

Somebody must have seen this before when installing mirrors... ..... Really want to know what it is prior to buttoning the door back up!

Please help!!!!!

I too noticed the connector when I removed my door panel. I have power locks, windows, mirrors and heated mirrors. I do not have heated seats. Could this be the heated seat connector?

Ron

I don't have heated seats either..... Not sure where the control for heating the seats is located. On most cars that I've seen with this option it is on the dash or center console.

I was thinking that it might be for some type of marker lamp on the door..... the ones that come on when the door is open to make it visible..... Just a guess.

The connector has dust and a cobweb around it, so I know it has never been used on my truck. Guess I'll just have to give up and live with not knowing what it is... ... need to put the trim back on the door to go out of town.

At least I can feel better knowing someone else has seen the same thing... thanks Ron

... Less likely the alarm disarm switch.

If you don't have the factory alarm and all other power stuff works, it is then most likely the connector for the disarm switch: the alarm is disarmed when you use the key to open the door.

I vote with member rrl989. If you have a similiar plug on the passenger side with a blue wire it has to do with the premium sound system.

Gee. I should have taken pictures when I installed my power/heated tow mirrors today. My truck has a wire running from that plug up to the lock mechanism. I have the factory security system, so I agree with Neal. This would be the "sense" wire to lock/unlock both doors by using the key.
