It feels as if my drivers seat is breaking down and a spring is sticking me in the A$$. Is anyone else having this problem. I will see if DC will change it under warranty.

I have only 8200 miles on truck but I noticed that my drivers seat looks to be sagging and material is wrinkling. I get in and out of my truck alot during the day. I too need to check with the dealer.

I have a 2001 SLT+, and the driver's seat foam seems to be condensing on the door side. It seems like I'm always leaning towards the door, and it seems worse going around right turns. It's not obviously noticeable, so I think I'll go sit in a new truck just to confirm that my seat is messed up. The seats are heated, power leather seats.

I was wondering if you guys had nerf bars or side steps. Before I got my nerf bars I found that I was sliding off the seat and I thought that over time it would wear the seat cushion abnormally. I try to make a point of lifting my weight over the seat when I get in or out.

I am having the same problem on my 99 on the edge of the seat near the driver's door. I have boards on my truck and I am not even a bucket a$$... go figure. Of course this problem exists way past the warranty!

Hey Guys, the fix is easy and cheap!!

I'll do it by numbered steps, as I just finished this project.

1. Look under the seat cushon and find the four screws that fasten the bottom to the frame.

2. Remove the screws and take out the entire seat bottom.

3. Place seat bottom top down on floor (living room carpet is a good place to do this!

4. Seat fabric (shell) is held in place by 5 'u' shaped pieces of plastic(retiners). Push down on the seat frame and pull the plastic retainers off the frame starting at the back of the seat.

5. Do not completely remove the shell from the foam cushon, it is velcroed in two places, and has hog rings in a third location, leave them alone also.

6. Cut a piece of carpet the same size as the bottom spring assembly, aproxemately 14" X 16". This MUST be good carpet, not rubber backed.

7. Place the carpet with the backing against the spring. At this point if you want to add a little lift to the seat, you can place a 2 inch thick piece of foam rubber, aprox. 16" X 21" between the carpet and the foam seat base.

8. Place the seat again upside down on the floor, place the new foam on the cushon, (if used) use the spring marks to line up.

9. Place the piece of carpet on the foam, nap against the foam, with the backing up.

10. Place the seat frame on top of all the above and line everything up.

11. With a helper holding everything together, pull the sides of the shell up and attachthe retainers to the frame, starting with the front of the seat and then the rear, and then both sides.

12. Re install the seat base and go for a ride.

I think you'll be happy with the results, and still have the $100 in your pocket that a shop would have charged!

If you have any questions, e-mail me.

Good luck, Denny:D :D :D :D :D

I had the same problem- all of the little wires under the cushion had broken. I removed them and put in a 1/8" thick piece of Lexan. No more problem.

Nerf bars

I do have nerf bars on my truck but find myself turning and sliding out of the seat. I should use the bars to get out of the truck. Denny your fix sounds good and easy will have to give it a try.
