I have a friend who is replacing the foam on drivers side,he doesn't have Internet access and would like me to ask a question. His truck is a '03 3500 SRW with the Laramie package. He has removed the 4 main bolts and noticed the center console frame is mounted to the drivers/passenger seat. He wants to know how to get at the bolts holding the console to the frame, does he remove the 4 Phillips head screws/bolts on the bottom to access the bolts holding the console to the frame? I've not done my seat yet and my truck is loaned out to a friend,so I can't offer any advice. He doesn't have a garage and its -47 degrees below 0 at his place and would like to hopefully get the seat out and warmed up over night so he doesn't screw the leather up. Hope I haven't confused anyone,

Thanks-Casey

Just remove the 4 bolts that hold the seat to the subframe - then he can simply lift just the seat out. If he's only replacing the foam then he doesn't need to take out the whole frame.

There are 6 bolts (2 on the front and 4 on the back), they are 10mm and you will have to use a wrench to get the front two out. You'll have to raise the center console up and out of the way in order to lift the seat out. Don't forget to unplug the power connector for the center console.

Thanks for the replies fellas, haven't heard from him today,so he either figured it out on his own or froze like a pop sickle.

My thanks too.

Getting ready to tackle my seats. Now I can get my tools ready before i begin. And maybe look like I know what aI am doing while i do it;)

Prairie Dog is correct. There are 4 - 13mm nuts that remove the seat from the frame. CAREFULLY unplug the pwr seat connectors, and lift off the seat. You might have to move the seat back and forth before pulling the connector to gain better access to the nuts and connector.

Didn't know the size off the top of my head but my 2003 has 6 bolts, two in the front and 4 on the rear. I must have a different style interior...

The 04's may be different. If you are just removing the drivers seat on an 04 you need not remove the center console. Just the 4 nuts holding the seat to the frame.

The center console in my truck has studs that set down on the driver and passenger seats brackets, I have to lift the console sections up to get the seats out. I think the OP has a "03...

I looked at my seat last night and the center console has to be removed. Since I got a smoking deal on the foam I'm going to go ahead and replace mine also. I picked up a piece of HD carpet and I will lay that down first so that the new foam doesn't get fubared up like the original.
