Competition The silverline drag truck

Ok guys im looing to fab up some driveshaft loops for my std cab long bed 4x4, anyone have some input, photos, vendors?

I checked out Big Bad Dodge's setup and I like it but I cant see how it attaches to the pumpkin, and hes got a obvious ext cab so its attached to the carrier bearing setup.

Thanks guys

Ian

750. 00!!! holy cow, why cant a regular joe get some pipe, bandsaw it down cut em in half, weld tabs, tap the other half, weld a 1/4 x 1" bar on all of them and mount it?

Ian

Hey BigBadDodge Can you send me some pics of you driveshaft loops too??? I currently have 6" Well Casing that is 1/4" Thickness. . Universal Loops are cut to 6 inches and driveshaft loops are 2", and universal loop for front Transfer Case yoke is cut to 8". . Can you send me some pics on how you got your mounted to your pumpkins, transfer case, and output shaft of your transmission????

Hey guy's i just put them in gallery so all can see them here:

If your making them for a streetable vehicle I would recomend using pipe for the sliding section at the top that the loops hang from just for better twisting charteristics. below is a picture of CSuttons that shows what I mean.

The piece that is attached to the rear and front pumpkin is held in place with four large set screw so you can remove easily to access the u-joint if need be. That is the only piece I didn't make it was purchased through EEP but as you can see it can be made fairly easy. as far as attachment to the t-case that is a little for me as I utilized the cross member in my four link system as you can see.

Thanks Scott!!!

any STD CAB guys have photos??? Im thinking of mounting the front bracket to the skid plate BUT it has to flex with the fram and the front loop has to be large enough for torque flex/movement from the transfer case... . Hmmmm

I still have a very hard time believing all that only cost 2 hours labor and $50. Somebody is very good and a much better and faster fabricator than me.

. . Preston. .

Mine was a day long project easily, and then there's drying times for paint re installing etc... . if you by a kit, I am sure it will still require some sort of fabricating at a minmum.

Didn't the rules change for the front ? I thought I read some were only joints that were visiable from the side of the truck on the front. That should leave just the u-joint at the front pumkin in that case just do what I have done to the back pumkin don't attach anything to it and be done with it.

Rob Thomas sold his loops to Sled Puller a couple of years ago and I built that set for him. If you pull in Michigan with the TTPA, all joints have to be covered! I will post a few Pics of my style of loops, Later today. I do attach my loops to both front and rear axles with four set screws as well as two bolts through the webbing on the axles.

Rob Thomas is a michigan boy who has a set of drive shaft loops on his 01. 5. Check out his readers rigs. He might be able to help and he is local(MI).

You must have missed all of Rob's bad press here on the TDR. I would recommend anyone interested in doing business with Rob do a search here on the TDR first.

Darryl... could you PM me a price on your driveshaft loops for the front and rear. My truck is a 99' regular cab. Thanks.
