Drivetrain

Thanks, TDR Staff

Anyone every bored out a cummins 5.9 for more power?

0 - 60 mph times with G-Tech, not bad, but could be better...

Can someone tell me exactly what components make up the drivetrain? Trying to help a coworker deal with a Dodge dealership and find out what should or shouldn't be covered under her drivetrain coverage.

TIA.

I'd have to say the engine internals (perhaps some externals like the turbo, and injection pump) through the clutch to transmission, to drive shafts to axles. There are wear items in here as well, like the clutch.

What in particular is the debate over? Maybe one of our dealer ppl on here can speak up as too what extent their "warranty" covers.

rhickman,

She stated they replaced her entire transmission, mileage @ 49k and made her pay for the trans. Her coverage is 7/100. Should she even have to pay a deductible? Its a 2002 Dodge Caravan.

I would certainly think a powertrain warranty would cover the transmission. At the end of the day, however, the only thing that matters is what's written on the 7/100 warranty document. What does it say?

Rusty

Definitly check the documentation, but in my opinion the transmission is undoubtedly part of the drive train.

Rusty @ rhickman,

I've asked her to bring in her paperwork. If she remembers, it'll be Monday. Will check back with you guys when I get the paperwork.

Thanks, you guys are confirming what I've been telling her.

Casey

I'll rustle up my paperwork from when I bought my truck. I know the vehicles are different, but since its the same company I'd be willing to bet the wording and their interpretation is similar. There has to be someone else that has faced this on this board? Heck I know my dad has, he's bought dodges for years now and not one of them has had a transmission worth a hill of beans.

let me guss the spider gear pin sheared the roll pin and sliped out of the carrier and punched a hole in the trans case!!!

And what year is her caravan???

Firewalker,

I still have tears in my eyes... . I just ran the above by her and got the "deer caught in the headlight" look. She started laughing and she had no idea about spiders in her transmission. She will bring in all of her paperwork Monday. Guess she was an easy one for the **ealership.

LOL.

Take care,

Casey
