2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Driving and running lights

Where would a good place to hook up running lights be on a 97.

Also on driving lights,if you want them to come on with the lights

is there a way to have them on with lows and highs. Thanks RJ

My 97 has wires already installed under the bumper, part of the stock wire harness. The power center under the hood has slots for a fuse and/or relay. If you do a search I recall there was a thread about how to get the driving lights to come on with the dims. I believe it was similar to getting the low and high beams to come on together which is what I have done. I installed a relay, energized by the high beam circuit, to provide power to the low beam circuit thru a fused wire from the battery while the high beams are on. This was an easy bomb. I'm guessing you could add a relay, energized by the low beam circuit to send power to the driving lights in the same manner.

Try to avoid putting any more current through the light switch. If you want to add more running/marker lights tie into the trailer tow relay in the PDC. That will prevent the light switch from potential melting issues.



Another take on driving lights is to take power for the relay coil off the parking light circuit. Then the additional light can be used on hi, lo or independently.

I think I hook up a relay via a switch and trigger by the parking lights. should stay on with lows or highs.

I set up my driving lights on a floor clicker like older trucks had. When I want them on I just tap my left foot on the clicker and I have lights. The floor clicker switches can be bought at any automotove supply and mine was $8. I think it was for an 80's ford. The only down side is that I had to drill a hole in my floor mat for the switch.
