Drop in Air Filters?

I think i'm gonna go with a drop-in type air filter...



These are the 2 i've been looking at and was wondering if what would be the difference in the 2 and which one would be better over the other and why?



Also if there is any other filters i should consider let me know and why? THANKS

Those are the 2 styles i am looking at... Also which would be better a oiled or a dry filter.



Aside the air filter question... . Is that new AFE blade runner worth while buying for my mostly stock(for now) truck?

Either one of the AFE filters is a good choice, the oiled filter is going to give you better protection, no matter what anyone says, I have never had oil residue in my intake.



The AFE dry is also a great choice, easy to clean, and does a fine job.



Amsoil also makes a good dry filter.



Dry filters are going to have to be looked after more often.



PS: What happened to your 07? And the MegaCannon?

Personally, Iv had good luck with Amsoil dropin Im running.

I feel that when someone asks a question like you did, your going to get a lot of different answers.

Each will depend on what works or doesnt work for the individual answering.

Do yourself a favor and search this forum and others on that Amsoil air filter. I threw mine in the garbage can.

I modified my factory intake and added a cold air intake to bottom side. I just placed a K&N in service a like it a lot. I have run it about 500 miles and turbo side tube is still very clean.

I'm thinking of going with the PSM cold air intake with pro-guard 7 air filter in the OEM air box for my 2007. 5 6. 7liter cab=chassis. Has anyone out there had any luck with this combination?

I did it in my truck and it works great. I even extended the tube to the front of the bumper so I get a ram-air effect. The turbo whistle is pretty cool.

Does any one besides K&N make a drop in filter Like that for a 6. 7 or are they all panel filters?

That K+N looks like a good filter. Its a new design now not flat. Wonder how they are?

Yeah I realy like the looks of the new k&n!! but Im still on the fence about a drop in or an air intake?? I would like to have a drop in with a diffrent intake hose, like cool blue makes but man they are high for just a piece of hose!!

save your money and just get a drop-in, tdr/diesel power (i think) did a dyno test and the most you would ever gain is like 8hp, the stock system is the best for the money.

I agree totally with the K&N dropin and stock air box with my cold air mod with factory intake pipe with baffle removed. When Cool hose comes out I plan to add one for the looks.

I got the AFE proguard 7 super stock drop-in for mine, and also did the "home-made" cold air intake mod to my stock air box. In addition, i busted out the baffles out of the intake tubing as well. The end result was a noticeable difference in power and throttle response. I would definitely recommend it!
