My oil pressure is 25# at idle, and 60# during cruise at 2000 rpm (70 mph). When I increase throttle from this cruise condition, the oil pressure drops to 50# and stays there until I backoff the throttle. If the transmission (Allison 6 speed) down shifts during the acceleration (rpm now 2400+) the oil pressure goes back to 60#. The drop in pressure occurs about 1 second after throttle increase
This only happens when the engine has been at full operating temperature for some time. I may have had this problem for a while, but only recently noticed it.
Is this oil pressure fluctuation something to worry about?
My Cummins (230hp) is in a 22,500# 1995 Safari pusher motorhome with 30,000 miles on it.
Thanks.
