2004 Dodge Diesel 2500,dropping out of overdrive. When you stop at stop sign, it takes off in 2nd unless you manually shift it to low. It will go through the 1st and 3rd gears, but will not go into overdrive lockup. If you stop, shut off engine, and restart. . it works fine. . for awhile. Code is 2769 on speedo. It seems to drop out at 25-45 mph range.
I cleaned battery posts, grounds and dielectric grease into harness/coupler that hangs on to fire wall. I have been told to check governor, Transmission Temp sensor... anything else? Does anyone have a solution to this problem and exactly what to look at. In September, the TPS was replaced.

Sounds like a low voltage signal in the system somewhere. Would cause the problems you are seeing.

The starting off in 2nd, dropping OD, etc, could be several things. Gov pressure solenoid and\or transducer plus the output speed sensor. These are relativel easy to replace.

Yesterday, I ran the fog lights over 200 miles and around town. . it never kicked out of overdrive. Wonder if the alternator is sending out a bad message. I cleaned about 7 grounds and used dielectric and it did not change anything. It still kicked out of overdrive at lower speeds until I ran the fog lights. Any ideas?
