My salesman called and wanted me to try a 600 this afternoon, he knew I wasn't in the market and just wanted my impressions:

Quieter than my '03. They have added insulation under the hood and there is a huge shroud around the fan. That would serve to make it quieter and also to provide more efficient cooling, which I suspect is the main reason for doing that. The catalytic converter probably makes the truck run a bit hotter.

The exhaust sounds different, maybe a bit deeper, but the larger exhaust and the HUGE catalatic converter could account for that.

The truck I drove was a 2500 regular cab 4x4 with the 48RE so I cannot compare apples to apples, but the truck was very quick. I only drove it for a short while so my views of the performance in pretty limited.

If something happened to my truck I would buy the 600 in a heart beat, but I would not trade my '03 for even money.

Very nice truck but what would I have expected.

Sure would like to have that cooling shroud on my '03. That's my only engine complaint. Overheating in the mountains pulling a load. Never had it go all the way to the red line but gets closer than I like to see.

Hot towing

Has anyone yet put a 180* thermostat in a 03/04. Why not? Pros & Cons. I need to change my sig. 04. 5 3500 DRW. The black angus. Thanks.
