Local dealer has an '02 dually with 50K on it. Very good shape overall. HO engine with 6 spd. Drove alright (except for a decided pull to the left) and ran alright. They want $31K for it. A little high in my estimation. In its former life it toted a gooseneck trailer full o' hogs around. One owner, dealer sold it new to him.
Nuthin' fancy otherwise. Towing mirrors are not remotely controlled. The vanity mirror on the passenger's side is not lighted. So I am guessing that this truck is not a "highline" model.
Defects that I noticed right off:
1) Tailgate has many, many tiny paint chips in it. From towing?
2) The black vinyl trim piece that adheres to the pillar directly behind the passenger door glass is missing.
3) Passenger side front tire center cap missing.
4) It has a decided pull to left, regardless of which side a south breeze was working on as I went down the highway.
5) Rubber OK, more than 50% left anyway.
I hate parting with my beloved '97. It's been such a good truck but unfortunately, according to the book, you can't put much of a slide in camper in a 2500. So I am looking at a 1 ton in the future. Maybe. If I can let go of the '97.
Anyway, Kelley blue book on the 02 is about $28K. The '97 trade in is an appalling $13K.
Bringing the '97 in tonight to see how bad he'll insult me for trading.
I know their price is a bit steep. The front end is going to need some work (big surprise!) And the tailgate should be repainted IMHO.
I hate trading vehicles.
