Who makes a Diesel SUV?

Just a rumor??

Weather sucks but still got a chance to go test drive some vehicles. Mack and I decided to stop at Broadway Dodge where I bought my truck in 02 and check out the 05 Dodges just "cause I could". It was a 6-speed 4-door shorty 2500 4x4. Nice but just can't justify more/higher payments right now. Still nice and different than my 99.

Later we headed to Lithia Jeep cause Mack and I both wanted to check out the Liberty CRDs. Pretty cool! We found a few out back separated from the rest of the Liberties. A nice salesman helped us out. Brother and I sat in back, Mack drove, and salesman in passenger seat.

First impressions were ok, particularly because Mack used to have an 02 Liberty 3. 7 auto and I was not too fond of the handling and power. But, the diesel is a whole 'nother animal. I like it, though I hope they come out with a 5 or 6-speed in 06. It is a 2. 8l, . 9 liters smaller than her old Jeep but the torque and HP shine (160/285). It is quiet, smooth, and gets up and goes.

Not a bad price either, $25,xxx sticker. She is not sure about the auto either, but she may be parting with her 01 Audi if the manual CRD comes out.

Who here owns/drives one? Impressions, likes/dislikes?

Also, brochure says the engine is a VM Motori S. p. A. Who makes it?

Nick,

The engine is made by VM Motori - an Italian company that has been making engines for Chrysler and a few other manufacturers for years. Their 2. 5L common-rail I4 is very popular in Europe.

Now, we finally get the fruits of this partnership in the form of a Liberty CRD. I can only hope that Daimler Chrysler and VM Motori continue to do business and bring more diesels stateside.

I test drove a CRD and was seriously considering when I bought my Liberty. The power was ok, but I ended up getting a v6 instead. I avg. about 19 with the 3. 7 so I'm not disappointed with it.

Who going to step to the plate and start bombing the CRD???? :D

That's what I asked my g/f. What was first on the list, a lift (she likes to off road a little), injectors, or dual 5 inch stacks! :-laf

This was here answer-
