I am in the market for a used truck and would like to have a ton truck but I hate DRW. Has anyone converted a DRW truck to a SRW truck? Any info is helpful

I had a dually and ran singles (from a 3/4T) in the winter. It sure looked dorky but worked. If it's just the fat butt you don't like, look for a pre03 cab and chassis dually. The frame is narrower, the springs are closer to the frame and the track is 90" instead of 96". I've spent a lot of time mearureing them! Craig

SRW was never a option on the 2nd gen trucks.

I've wondered what it would look like to pull the duelly fenders, add fender flares to dress up the cuts on the bed, pull the adapters from the front and use 2500 wheels all the way around.

It wouldn't track perfect (havn't checked though), but would be a SWR.

Thoughts.

Why not just change the bed to a 3/4 one to get rid of the extra fenders and run a single rear wheel or does the axle on the 1 ton extend out farther than on a 3/4????

From what I understand, there is no significant differences between the 2500 and the 3500 except for the duels. In 97 and I am sure in the following years the GCWR of the 2500 and 3500 were the same. The only difference was the GVWR was less on the 2500 because the rear axle weight rating was lower..... duh. You apparantly aren't serious about hauling heavy, so get a 2500 and enjoy!
