Can I just get a SW box and remove the outer wheel to convert?

You also have to change out all the wheels and remove the front wheel spacers.



Personally, I like my DRW and don't think I could go back to a SRW.

If it is the size that bothers you, there only a couple of options. But, if you feel you are wasting fuel and rubber with six tires on the ground, and don't need the extra capacity, try this. Get a spacer made to eliminate the inner rear whell, remove a few spring leaves to smooth the ride.



Then, if you do decide to sell or trade, the truck can be returned to original condition.

Tried PMing no response. But could someone explain the "spacer" business -

Why can't I just remove the outer rear wheel? All I want to do at first is try it out then if I like it go for a box.

The track width on the rear will be pretty narrow. Problably look a lot like a Citroen pickup!

It won't work if get a SW box like you said on Post 1. I don't see any advantage to having only the outer wheels.

Another consideration is the weight rating of the singled out dually wheel. I don't believe it's as strong as a "regular" wheel designed for SRW use. I think they're only rated for something like 2800 lbs each. That's plenty for the front axle, where weights rarely exceed 5200 lbs regardless of load in the bed, but on the rear that would be a little light IMHO.
