This is our 2nd 3500 dually - both were bought to tow 5th wheels. As has been said, the SRW truck in 5th wheel towing applications will invariably run out of GVWR before it runs out of GCWR. That's why duallies are the key for towing heavy 5vers. To illustrate, our 2nd gen 2WD truck is rated at 10,500 GVWR and 21,500 GCWR. Towing our 13,500 lb 5th wheel, we hit the road at 10,380 lbs GVW and 21,180 lbs GCW. Even a 3rd gen SRW 3500 would be over its GVWR in our application.

We've never had any vibration or wheel balance problems on either of our duallies. For our application, it's the only way to go. :D

(Oh, and it looks COOL, in case that hasn't been mentioned!) Oo.

How about this angle... ... if you get the 3500 SRW first, because your wife does not want the hassle of the extra width, for not much more than the 2500, then when your wife falls in love with it, then when it comes to by your next vehicle she is so happy with the 3500 srw that she let's you go out and get a dually which she won't need to drive and now you have one all to yourself. A bonus is that you don't have a car in the garage that has a engine crammed in it sideways that you can't work on;)

I could care less where, when, how often, and under what circumstances you or anyone in your family, wash your truck.

I like to keep mine clean, a yes I enjoy doing it.

If others, including yourself don't I could give less then a rats bass, it's your truck, your life, and means nothing to me.

Maybe some time you could tell us how you really feel ! :D

I don't understand why they even make a 2500 - a 3500 SRW rides close enough to the same - doesn't it? If you are only pulling once a month - get the SRW that way you won't have to worry about the extra tires. When you go to but these d*** 17's that only Goodyear makes in factory size, you will know what I mean. Sure, they last longer because there is 2 more tires. But it is only worth it if you want the extra comfort during your pulling miles.

Yes, they look cool, and we all have our priorities when buying a truck. The good thing about Dodge is that they all look cool IMO - just some are made for more work than others.

Also, the first time you have a blow out on the outside and rip your fender off...

Doesn't happen much, but it does happen.

DC really screwed up making the holes in the wheel covers too small. Checking air pressure is a pain.

How often you pull and your preference on looks should be the factors - maybe not in that order.

I postulate it is the old "How can we squeeze more out of these saps" theorem. This theorem is based on Einsteins early work on turnips.

I goes something like this. If we do away with the overload springs on the 2500 we can sell the dupes a 3500 SRW which is basically the old 2500 with overloads (camper package).

Of course, I'm wrong and expect to hear about it ad infinitum, so please do not disappoint me

PS: no offense intended toward current 3500 owners. fine print :D

Seeing as how this is the 1st one ton truck I have owned & the first diesel I have owned, I figured I needed the training wheels till I learned how to drive the thing!

Big Rig

Love my dually

I had to pry the thing from my wifes hands again last night just to get to take a little ride in it. She looked very disgusted as I left, standing there pouting in the garage as I left( actually kind of sexy)... I'm thinking this could work;)

Dean, your truck is what I would like to get. A few questions. .

1) what color do you have?

2) is the Sport available in all colors? Different car pricing guides give me differebt answers

3) do you like the Sport? Does it come with body side mouldings? is the Cummins badge on the front fender?

4) are you happy with the 4. 10 gears?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, to answer your questions:

1) Bright Silver Metallic

2) The Sport dually was only available in Black, White, Silver and Red last year, at least when I ordered mine. There may have been more colors available in the SRW.

3) I love the looks of the Sport. No body side mouldings and the Cummins badge is on the front fenders.

4) I tow a heavy trailer and would not have anything other than the 4:10 gears. I wanted the truck to have the heaviest GCVW I could get and that gearing gives me a ton more. I also like the 6 speed combined with the Jacobs e-brake for towing situations, although I would have a 6 speed no matter if I towed or not:cool: :D .

and 5) although my truck is the one you want. Sorry;) ;) ;) I want it more:D

There are more colors available in the SRW, but none as good-lookin' as Dean's silver Sport DRW!
