I'm considering the DSS but I was wondering if there was anything that I needed to do before I installed it, i. e. getting the front-end aligned or checking other components?

Also, dodgeram.org has a page on alignment specs but from what I can tell, they were specifically posted for 1/2 ton trucks. Can anyone confirm that these specs would be beneficial for a 3500 truck?

The DSS does not change the steering geometry. It is basically a brace for the steering box. It will not alter any of your alignment specs. Although it wont fix any problems your truck already has. I highly recommend the brace. It takes all the load off of the steering box, and keeps it from flexing as you steer or hit a bump. It made an incredible difference on my truck. If I were to get another truck it would be the first thing I bought, after I fixed the kdp.

It *WAS* one of the first things I put on my truck - one of the best preventative "bang-for-the-buck" add-ons you can put on your truck, especially on the 4x4's. No change in steering geometry, just a stiffer and more durable steering arrangement that takes the loads and stresses off the steering box itself...

The DSS doesn't require it, but, if you haven't already, check your track bar. The combination of fixing those two things did wonders for me.

With the DSS installed do you still nee a factory or aftermarket (shock type) Steering stabilizer?? I am doing this mod in a few weeks and need to know if i have to get a new stabilizer also. Thanks BOB

You will need to keep the factory steering stabalizer. It performs a different function than the DSS. The one on mine needs to be replaced though at 170k.
