2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission DSS Steering Stabilizer

Well I have bought a new steering box since the old one started leaking from the pitman shaft seal and it was feeling kind of sloppy. Now I am buying a DSS to prevent the wander and a lot of the problems with our steering gears. I was wondering how anyone who has one made out with it. Also iv heard from some people that it my not be good for off-roading and the opposite from others, but it seems to me adding an extra crossmember would make the truck more solid on and off road. What are the thoughts on this?

It was one of my best purchases, well worth the money and is holding strong. It removed most if not all of the wander, the next best thing was new bilstein 5100's and d25's to level the front end on top of the adjustable track bar and bracket by the same folks that make the DSS. No more wander and the truck rides like a caddy and drives like a porche, not that I have driven either of them :-laf :-laf .

I don't do any hardcore offroading, but I do spend a lot of time in pastures and hayfields. I have lifted tires on many occasions and have not seen any adverse effects. From what I see, this bracket just adds extra support to the steering box, tying it to the same part of the frame that it is bolted to. I don't see how that can be a bad thing.

I am looking for another Cummins dodge for the wife to drive. I will have a DSS and a 03 track bar, waiting in the shop for it.

DSS Baja Proven!

I 've pounded my DSS equipped truck many miles of Baja's best roads.

The roads mostly used by race trucks.

I'd say the DSS is required for off road.

DSS on bumpy/washboard dirt roads works GREAT!!! awesome product!!! mine at 138K drives 10Xs better than my buddys 02 with half the miles!!

I have a DSS. The benifit of the DSS seems to vary depending on how much slop is in the steering gear box sector shaft has In my case, the installation didn't improve my steering much; however, it sure didn't hurt anything and I believe it does help reduce the strain on the sector shaft. In my case, installing a 3rd Gen trackbar resulted in a bigger improvement in the trucks steering then anything else.

I will be installing a new tracbar eventually because I will also be doing a lift. The next thing on the list this summer is dynatrac free-spin hub conversion. I plan to make this suspension and drivetrain as strong/ reliable as possible.

on mine it did make a difference, despite the fact that the steering (even though a 200k miles truck) wasn't sloppy to begin with. The DSS and PSC gearbox tightened up the steering further

Got the DSS on, it's a nice piece. I really don't have any wonder that I can tell anymore since the new steering gear ad this. Now it is time to fix my right side which I believe is ball joints and I have already bought them.
