... Solid Steel Ind. may not be happy about this clone. I was a little shocked to discover I had not bought the SS equipment that I wanted.

Right you are Dave, and with all patent issues aside, I would always want to purchase a product that works best for me and reward the original creator. Maybe PSC could make it more clear that they are not a re-seller of the SSI product (I'm not a lawyer) but, again, I don't think they deceived in a overt way. It would be interesting to compare kits side by side and other than the bearing difference already noted, see how they compare but at this pt... I'm satisfied. I purchased the 3rd gen track bar kit from PSC last yr and had no reason to not go in their direction again... and again (thanks to your opinion on the 3-turn SB) I'll likey purchase from PSC again and if needed SSI. This kind of thing occurs more often in this after market truck business then most of us are aware and it's another benefit of TDR to become aware of the way the business works. Just my two cents.

I sure would like to see them side by side too. The guy I talked to at PSC mentioned how the Solid Steel products were constantly on back order and thats why they made their own Steering Stabilizer. Whats interesting is that PSC said the 2003 TB bracket and the adjustable 2003 TB were from Solid Steel. I think I read somewhere Solid Steel is Canadian and the boxes they were in had Canada on them. An unusual way to do business. I'm satisfied with the product so far.

Uh..... Hum... I really liked the PSC steering box too, but you already know that... right? I'd like to hear how your PSC box install goes.

Dave

If you paid for the product with a credit card and it was misrepresented and defective, contact your credit card co and file a complaint. They can give you a credit and pull payment from the company selling and missrepresenting the item. Then you can go to SS and get the original.

This problem has recently been resolved.

The details of which I will not get into on an open forum.

Please have confidence in dealing with PSC, they make a great steering box.

But do they have a "great" steering box stablizer? The one I have has a 1/4" space between the bar and the holder before its torqued up. Seems like a lot of load on something. I noticed in some of the photos SS has a spacer. But PSC didn't provide one . I've e-mailed them and will post their response.

I also have a stabilzer from psc and if installed directly against the bracket, the bearing would have put a large amount of pressure on the steering box. I spaced mine out with some washers to eliminate the pressure as the extended nut was plenty long.

Hey Dave, was the steering box you installed an 841md? Psc lists several different boxes. The light effort box is a 13-16:1 while the diesel 841md is a 20:1. When I ordered my track bar I asked about the lighter steering effort but didn't get the impression it would be as light as your describing. My old power wagon always had one finger steering and I miss it.

My sales invoice says DSS-0019402-4DSS 94to 02. But there is no locking ring or spacer. So RTessier ;that being the case I have an installation question. There is about 1/4 space when I hold the bearing up against plate by hand - but the holder fits flush after its torqued up. Is this too much load on the steering box?

The PSC box I got was the 841M not 841MD.

Anybody have any answers on the gap between the bearing assembly and the plate? I ordered my DSS from PSC and it is the same way. About a 1/4" gap.

I think what Russell just said here, is that PSC will quit making knockoff steering stablizers and purchase his product again. Also if you want the original product, then get it via solidsteel. biz not solidsteel. ca. I believe that Russell is running Darin's original company. "Darin's Steering Stablizer" and Marv ran off and started solidsteel. ca and also produces knock offs of Darin's original products. SNOKING
