We may be a little slow, but we do the best we can. If someone is in a hurry, we are willing to send the brackets out before the check arrives.

You folks (DSS) are no joke that's for sure. I called the other day to see if my check had arrived and if my parts were in the mail, the young lady on the other end says "nope, but if you give me your address we'll get one in the mail and be on the look out for your check", I'm thinking:--) I was totally blown away. They take customer service to a new level IMHO.

I remember a while ago there was discussion about patents and such for the DSS. I have also come across Mike's machine shop (or something like that) which made a different looking steering stabilizer but effectively it seemed to work the same. In addition, in the old post there was a person or two who were quite sure that this kind of bracket has been made before. Does this mean that modern manufacturers are just running off of industrial patents (or whatever it is called where you patent the exact design but you can't patent the idea)? I did a patent search for both that Mike's one and the DSS and found that there is apparently nothing standing. Could someone please explain all this too me.

Thanks in advance

Regarding patents:

New patent applications are not disclosed (by the patent office) to the public for at least a period of 18 months after application. Add to that the one year International treaty period for other countries and it could be quite a while before your search comes up with anything.

Both Canadian and American applications were filed.

Both applications are for utility patents. Utility patents cover the concept or idea behind something.

While not directed to anyone in particular, I'm getting a little tired of the "vultures" circling and waiting for any chance to make money from someone else's idea. We aim to earn our living fair and square.

Sorry, just a law student here with a few questions. Besides, what do you have to worry, don't patents last for 15 or so years?

Coalsmoke,

I apologize if my last sentence came across the wrong way. We have had a few "discussions" regarding patents along the way, and I guess the subject raises my hackles a bit. Seems like some folks don't believe us.

I wasn't implying *you* were a vulture; just that they are out there.

Again, my apologies.

Marv

BTW, 20 years in Canada.

No problem, I realize that the topic can be a little unnerving, especially when the onus relies on the individual inventor to enforce the protection of their own idea. I just remembered that Mike apparently had permission to make the DSS, and then it seemed that he no longer was making them, so I was curious as I have been contemplating remanufacturing my sway bars so that they can handle off road applications without damage, and logically at the absense of Mike's material, I was wondering whether something went awry.

20 years. That's a good chunk of time. You should have all of north america outfitted by that time with your great product.

I got to say the wait was worth it, I called and talk to a nice female person, ( forgot her name) if they had seen my check yet.

Was getting concerned about the money floating around out there, well the gal told me, don't worry it takes a while, mail a bit slow up here, but if you like we will send you a unit anyways. .

and when your check gets here we will mark it off as paid in full. Talk about the good old days when folks trusted folks, man it was refreshing just hear that. Did not need the offer it came 4 days later. Thanks Darin. Works great. Looking forward to the track bar mod.

TDR Member's are a trusting group. I've sent many a cb mount in advance of payment and have never been burned.

DSS great product and customer service

I had great service and fast delivery ordering the DSS from Piers - especially refreshing after hearing all the delivery problems courtesy of the snail-mail method from the factory - not their fault, just the way it is... Piers had them in stock, ready for rapid delivery...

Ordered my awhile back from DSS... didn't take too long to get it (maybe I'm too patient... nah, I've never been accused of that:D). Anyway, I installed it this last weekend. Great product!! The truck didn't drive badly before, but it seems a bit "tighter" now... I'm very happy with the product! Thanks to the folks at DSS:).
