I have a 99 International 4700/DT466E. It has always started as soon as I turn the key... . until yesterday. It now spins like a champ, but will not fire.



Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

I don't know very much about the 466's, is it electonic or mechanical? Does it have a shutdown solenoid? Does it have an electric lift pump?

Yep, more than likely, that's your problem. The DT466E used basically the same HEUI system as the Ford 7. 3 Powerstroke which are famous for failed cam sensors.

A friend with some experience on these engines stopped in... we bled the fuel line at the fuel regulator, and got it running. At his suggestion we pulled the fuel tank to check the metal stand pipe. He's seen several of these cracked near the top which would cause fuel to leak back. Mine was good. We checked codes and several accelerator pedal related codes showed up, but have not reappeared after clearing codes.

So, now it starts every time, and runs perfectly, like it has since I bought it. Guess I'll just drive it and see whether it repeats the glitch.
