I am looking for a parts diagram to give me some idea where to start diagnosing my 2006 5. 9 3500 Laramie. I have a rough Idle with engine code P0243, There are 130,000 trouble free miles on the engine. I pull a 3814 Raptor with a CJ5 in the garage.

The P0243 is the WG controller. Its the black cylinder on the front of the turbo with a wiring harness attached. You can disconnect it, get a resistor to fool the ECU into thinking its there, then add a boost elbow to the boost reference line on the back side of the turbo to control boost or just crimp the line closed with a set of vice grips. If you don't have a boost gauge you won't notice it but you only have 22-26 psi boost when it should go to 30 psi under a hard pull.

You can buy just the WG controller herer if you desire. 2003-2007 Common Rail 5. 9L

The WG controller non-functional won't cause your rough idle. That unfortunately may result in being an injector problem or if your lucky the FCA. Do you run additives at all? Addition of Power Service and 2-stroke oil or MMO works wonders to keep the injectors\FCA clean and functional.

read this, the resistor needs to be a 3 watt 145 ohm resistor

when 12 volts is applied to the solenoid it opens up a port and bleeds some of the air back into the volute increasing the waste gate opening from 20 psi to 30 psi. remove the three o rings to prevent damaging them and cut the solenoid into about 7/8 inch above the base that mates to the turbo next cut the square part where the wrench go's deeper to make it easier to tighten up. i cut some more of the outer barrel off for looks but you do not have to. next remove any parts left in the center tube, you will be able to see all the way through the tube. tap the tube with a 1/8 in. npt. and install a 1/8 pipe plug. replace the o rings and install see pix. The solenoid is 11 ohms. The largest resistor used to date to fool the ecm is 147 ohms. do not crimp the line to the waste gate. you will most likely find the wire coroded into near entering the solenoid
