I now have dtc's of:

P1286

p0123

P1475

P1488

P1693

I am thinking this means my VP is toast. Anyone have solid info on this? Please no hear say or guesses, I can do that on my own. Has anyone seen these exact codes and fixed it with the VP? My lift pump went and has been replaced and I have acceptable psi to sustain the VP. That is if I didn't fry it prior to LP replacement!

Thanks guys!

Doesnt look like its related to the VP.

2 of those codes are related to the APPS and 2 (or 3) are related to a 5 volt supply problem. (The common denominator is it is complaining about a 5 volt supply problem. )

Don't read my "wild guesses" if you choose, but I'm throwing them out here anyways. . Loose APPS connector? (doubt that one, sounds more like a voltage supply problem). Loose connection on the ECM (or anywhere) or could any of the connectors have been pulled while replacing the LP? Did diesel spray in any electronics? Loose ground maybe. . Hopefully, not a bad ecm.

Might get lucky and have cranked the batteries too low to keep enough volts to the ecm while cranking and just need a good charge & possibly the old battery disconnect / turn on the key while its dead to drain any residual voltage stored in the caps of the ecm, reconnect the batts then give it another try after they are fully charged. As said, you might get lucky and all it really needed was some air purging, but while cranking it could have browned out the ecm (undervoltage). It happens...

Good Luck!!

Thanks PRout. I will sure try that. Maybe I will get lucky! I have two short trips per day and OE batteries on top of that. I guess I am still trying to convince myself it is the VP I guess after all of the horror stories on here.

You're welcome. Admittedly, those were just guesses, but by going by the indication of the ECM being unsatisfied with the 5 volt supply, those would probably be the first things I would be checking.

One bit of advice is (as you probably already know) don't crank more than 15 seconds at a time due to starter overheating, and also it causes more damage than its worth to crank if the batteries are low. Its too hard on the electronics.

These were just some things to think about until the REAL troubleshooters chime in. -out

I got a ton more codes today and experienced some really weird intermittent dead pedal stuff. All of the codes are talking about too high of a voltage supply for just about everything. If it is diesel spray somewhere, how could I fix that? I checked for loose connections everywhere I could reach or have been sine the LP and couldn't find anything. (Actually it's not a new LP but the air dog FP100) Any other ideas:confused: (or wild guesses:-laf) while I wait for a shop to open Monday? I have yet to try the ecm drain idea and admittedly I didn't disconnect the batts. during insallation of the FP100. I think I will go do that now.....

Not tryin to hi-jack the thread but i could use some input on somewhat the same secnario.

My VP is still good and so was my factory lift pump, but i replaced the LP anyway cause the stock one scares me... . I went with the airdog also. Before the install i was code free. I did the install and when i was trying to get the air purged out of the system and get the truck running again i threw 2 codes... One being the P1693 and the other one had to do with the Lp being out of range (forgot the code number).

Now my question is, my fuel pressure is good and it runs great. At idle though and only when the truck is in neutral or PARK it gets a weird idle kinda like a flucuating up and down. It never did that before.

Any ideas? I am thinking that when i was routing the fuel lines and wiring i may have knocked loose a connection or something around the APPS.

If anyone is thinking the same thing where should i start looking? THANKS

:{ UH OH :{ the shop I took it to is strongly thinking the ECM :{ Their diag. equipment went down at they cannot be exactly sure until Cummins sends them another, but they are pretty sure. The guy thinks he has a test ECM someplace to plug in and run for awhile to make sure that's what it is before I spend the money. (which I don't have) He also thinks that there is a possible TPS issue, but we should start with the bigger problem first.

Does anyone have any ideas about another source of an ECM? Is this something that can a guy can get used? Would I really want a used one? At $1100 I am open to any and all possibilities.

Thanks
