Hello all. I was de-tuning my rig in anticipation of the blizzard last week and came up with some codes. 500 and 1693. I hoped for the best and cleared them. Drove 100 miles and checked - no codes. Drove another 400 miles and the codes are back. I run a smarty program and a TTPM. Any ideas?

'96 - '02 OBDII generic code list

P0500 is usually from breaking traction on one or more wheels. Occasionally there is a faulty sensor, usually one of the front ones as the wires are want to get rubbed through by the disc after brake or hub work. Not much to worry about.

P1693 is a companion code which means that one of the two computers has a code stored.

BTW - my method of de-tuning is go easy with the right foot.

Thanks for the info. Even with 35" mudders, the right foot method can be tricky with the tremendous power of the mighty Cummins!
