Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) DTT are the Best

Well I finally bit the billit(hehe). I got the DTT transmission. A huge chunck of coin, but it was worth it. Phoned Stefan got him to tell me what I needed and booked it in for the next week(lucky they weren't too busy) Caught the 5:30 am ferry from Vancouver Island was in their shop by 8:45am and out by 1:30 pm. I stayed there and watched the whole process... those guys know what they are doing. Special thanks to Vinney and Darren, 2 great guys. WOW... . what can I say, didn't know just how crummy this stock transmission was until I test drove my new one with Darren, man does it shift nice. Fuel milage has gone down. . not sure why(hehe), could be something to do with how hard the gofast peddle goes down now. Then this week, I finally Tapped the wire, That was a littlle nerving. wasnt sure if the vp44 was going to last or not..... got one of those 98. 5 pumps, heard alot of bad stories about them going on the first run. Well I've only made a few runs because it has been raining alot here last few days, but I hope it is going to hold out. It is a nice sunny day today so I will probably go for a run or 2 today. Will update you on that later

kboettcher, I still smile every time I step on the throttle and feel of my truck as it pulls hard thru the gears and it's been 9 months since I went up there and had it done. We took the ferry over to Vancouver Island and spent the night in Victoria. We then took the ferry to Port Angeles and I still couldn't get over the look on the customs officer's face when he asked, "what was your reason for visiting Canada?" and I told him, "To get my transmission built". Anyways, I hope your as happy as I am with my DTT trans. Mike

Went for the billet input but not the output.

They asked me why I would come up there to have transmission "serviced", my response was because they are the best transmission shop in North America! SNOKNG

Sorry for being off topic, but I saw that you had to go on a ferry. Me not being familiar with the area..... is their some split in the land up that way? What does it feel like riding on one of those things?



I'm fairly happy with the way my truck performs with a DTT setup. Wish I could lengthen the first and second part throttle shifts, but I chose not to for now. Full throttle shifts are good though.

TMaas, We only used the ferry to go over to Vancouver island and then back to the U. S. thru Port Angeles Washington on the way home. I took my wife and daughter and we made a vacation out of the trip. Heading up to DTT we went through the border crossing around the Lynden/Sumas area, and the Canadian guard there said, when I pulled up with my Dodge Cummins, "don't tell me, you're going to DTT". They must see alot of trucks going thru there to DTT. Mike

Wasn't sure if the ferry was an option, or a standard thing, to get to DTT. Immediately when I saw the word ferry, I thought of the oldies song "Ferry Cross The Mercy". :-laf Good song... .
