So. Cal. DTT installer

John Scott at Huntington Beach Dodge installs DTT TC and VBs. He did mine about 2 months ago and did a good job. He is going to put a #11 TST plate in for me, next Tuesday. The place is on Beach Blvd. just south of I-405.

My local Cummins guy isn't a DTT installer (they carry BD stuff) but I bought the master kit and VB and after spending hours on the phone with Bill he got the rebuild done and the transmission is fantastic. When I went to pick up the truck, he said "It was a pain in the *** because there's no instructions, but that's the best automatic I've ever driven. " At the time there were 3 other Rams in for auto rebuilds.

Basically, if you trust your guy to call Bill a lot (since virtually all of the tolerances, endplay, etc. are different from a stock transmission) they should be OK with it.

Thats great to hear. Thats where I bought my dodge from!!!! I like that place. I will have to give them a call. can you give me a rough guess on what this is gonna cost me?

ps. cost of tc vb and update kit and labor. wanting 91% if that makes a difference.





My mechanic is the head mechanic at USMC base down in San Diego(Camp Pendalton) he hasnt failed my yet, but i dont want to lose another trans. So i am just trying to get as much info as possible to make the right choice.

Cost of VB, TC and trans upgrade

When I had my '97 3500 done last December at Huntington Beach Dodge the cost, including labor, for the Torque Converter by DTT (89%), the Valve Box and the transmission upgrades totalled $2330. They found some metal shavings in the transmission, so they charged me another $150 to tear deeper into the Xmisson to find what was wearing so badly. So $2480 was the total. John is going to put a #11 TST plate in the injector , for me, for about $500 in a few days. A lot of money, but OH, what the hell. That isn't exactly how the wife phrases it, though.
