I'm ready to upgrade my trans and had my mind made up to go with DTT. However, after reading more on the new ATS stuff, I'm second guessing myself. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I dont have either one but let me ask you this... ... .

Do you want the cutting edge of technology wherein you are essentially a beta tester since the technology has not yet proven itself with the passing of time and miles? If this is what you are looking for then ATS is your ticket... ... Not saying bad things here about ATS merely pointing out it is not proven technology as yet, not enough time, not enough miles. From what I have read it works well but... ... ... ...

Do you want proven technology that has survived the test of time with millions of miles under its belt? If so then DTT is the ticket... ...

Cutting edge technology? Hell, I thought milled stators and mystery switches have been around forever... .....

I"ve got the DTT stuff. The ATS adds look good. If I were to do it over again I would go with DTT . You cant beat the service and they are just so nice to deal with. My Dtt trans has over 50,000 miles on it and so far no problems. OK. one or two small problems but they cheerfuly took care of it at no cost to me. Even to the point of hooking up my travel trl. in front of their shop and then offering to let me park in their own yard. Bill & his wife Shonti (sp) are the best. Their staff and workers are beyond reproach. Just my opinion and experience.

Call each company and make your own decision.

Here is what I see based on what has been written. This is MY OPINION, and i encourage you to do your own research and determine what is best for you

ATS: Call them and they will let you make your own decision. Its your choice and they respect it.

DTT: Call them and they will tell you that they want to protect you from bad marketing and misleading advertisements. Course the only solution to this (according to DTT) is to give your money TO DTT.

Yup. . its my opinion, and it isnt popular.

Absolutely DTT!

I have been building these transmissions for about 10 years now, and I was extremely pleased with the quality and detail of the DTT setup when I installed them into my own vehicle. Can't say enough good things about Bill and his patience with my questions.

Curt,

You also might want to check out Dave Goerend. He's just down the road from us in Iowa. A couple of our WI guys have Goerend set-ups and are very happy with them. Dave has hosted a dyno event for us in May the past two years, so I know first hand that he's a good guy.

Curt - I have one of the trannys Fireman Dave mentioned ,and am extremely pleased with both the function of the transmission and the way I was treated at Goerends shop while the truck was being worked on. Dave and his employees are truely professionals in their field, and they are only located several hours or a phone call away. Unlike some of the other members on the board who are sponsored and get favorable parts discounts inexchange for company boasting,I paid in full for all the work that was done to my truck out of my pocket. You want a ride in a Goerend equipped truck?Let me know, more than happy to oblige.

Just quoting the guys at ATS... ... . :)

I have a six speed now but I have dealt with DTT in the past and they are nothing but helpful. I recommend them to any one I can !!!

I have a DTT transmission, paid for it and I'm very happy with it and DTT. Best bomb I've done YET! I get to go on a towing trip(9K fiver) over the hollidays hope it will put a bigger smile on my face.

Opinions.....

..... are like a**holes - everyone has one! - seriously though, your decision will ultimately be both part objective and part subjective.

The objective stuff you can discover by trawling the wealth of information here on the TDR archives. If at all possible, try and get a ride in a truck with these mods. The subjective decision will be down to you.

Let me put this into perspective. I am almost 10,000 miles away on the wrong side of the big pond. If I ever have any significant problem with my transmission, then the logistics to sort it out could also become significant. (I'm not expecting any BTW;) )

Ultimately it's more smiles per mile.

...

I did just what JConley suggests you do, and I 100% disagree with his take on it (as he said, his opinion is an unpopular one, and I agree with him). I called not only ATS and DTT, but also Suncoast and got my take on all of them from over the phone. You can look in my signature and figure out for yourself who I went with.

I am 110% happy with my transmission. I will not recommend anyone else but DTT to people with a CTD... . they are, IMHO the best aftermarket auto transmission on the road, and shortly my friends and I will have three of them to test HP numbers with. Best warranty, best service, great people.

BTW, I was just astonished with Stefan when I called and talked to him... didn't figure there was any way he was less than 6 months older than me. That boy know's more ***** about trannys already than the rest of us will ever dream of knowing.

My motto: To each their own, and screw everyone else. Basically, it doesn't matter what you have, my truck will always be better! That's because I paid for it with my hard earned $$$, so it darn well better be the best.

Later, Josh.

Best warranty

That's incorrect. The ATS Triplelock warranty is for 3 years and unlimited mileage. The DTT warranty is for less time than that. Mine is still shifting like a dream after 19000 miles behind 500hp.

My .02.

Let's see, I have been building transmissions for some 28 years, have been certified for over 25 by ASE, have always owned/driven/raced Dodges,(even when I worked at GM dealer;) ). I feel like I know these transmissions in our trucks pretty well, I chose DTT for my truck and recommend them to others. Have installed DTT in trucks from mild to wild and to my knowledge they are all still on the road after some two years.

I had to be a satisfied customer before I would consider being an installer.

Do your research, and I hope whatever the choice, it is the right one for you.
