well after having the EZ for oh, a week or so, I realized this transmission doesn't put the power to the ground like it should. Never thought I'd take bombing this far!! :D Tried searching... but kinda hard when DTT doesnt meet required word length. So, the questions are...

1. How will a DTT VB & TC affect my warranty?

2. How much can I expect to spend on installation?

3. How does the 89% shift? Opinions? I won't be towing, and don't *plan* to go over EZ/Comp? and DD2's. This is our daily driver and what we take to church, country club, etc.

Sorry for rambling, and thanks for yalls help!

Wife says she hates yall! ;)

Dawg,

I am by far no authority on DTT products. I am going on tuesday for the 89%TC and VB. Here is what I know.

1. I think if you are worried about the warranty then you should take it to the dealer. If you are not too worried go with what the members here endorse.

2. I don't think we are allowed to talk about #'s here but mine is going to be around $26 to $2800.

3. I drove a DTT TC and VBed truck and have wanted one since. The shift is not agressive like shift kit. It just puts the power on the ground instead of out the exhaust.

Hope this helps, People will tell you to call Bill K himself. I did it and mine is going in next Tuesday. Oo.

paging Bob, mr wagner to this thread please....

Bill K has a VERY proven product. I might very well in up with his stuff.

An 89% is great for daily driving without trying to hotrod. As far as warrenty, it shouldn't affect your engine warrenty, but the transmission warrenty will be shot.

First off, I have no experience with any other products for AT's. I choose DTT based on what I read here. I am the only DTT equiped CTD in my state so I had nothing to tease me either. I would say the warrenty is going to be shot, but with a comp and DD'2 I'm sure the dealer would have a good argument to void end and trans coverage, but so what. Right? As far as cost, I did my own with Bills help, but I would imagine it's not going to be cheap. But the end result is great. The truck drives like you would think it should. If the first CTD you drove had DTT mods, you would think the stock ones were broke. I am very happy with both product and customer service. Also, there are many other companies that make great AT products. I have given my opinion, but you should call around and go with what makes sence to you. Good luck.

I believe the harshness of shift is caused by two parts, VB and TC. You can have your valve body setup up for agressive shifts or mild, and somewhere in between.

Call BillK and tell him what you use your truck for, any mods (included tire size), how you drive it, and what other future mods you may do, as well as if you tow and how much.

Your VB will be customized for you.

HTH

Best of luck.

Dixie,I have the 89,and i plow with it,hot rod a little, but 80% of my driving is with my wife/kids in the truck, they never complained about the shifting,Bill can set it up so it shifts firm, but not overly hard. The 89% TC is very nice,it feels a little tight going into gear, compared to the stock loose convertor, but the power is transfered ,and the engine no longer revs up before the truck moves,it moves as it builds RPM's now. My mileage didnt change after putting it in,and i drove it harder sine the day its been in,i was afraid of rolling into the throttle with the stock transmission,no fear now. I notice the transmission temps have dropped a lot with the DTT mods, this would lead me to believe that it will last a lot longer than a stock setup. With dd2's and a Comp, you be hotrodding in no time, you simply wont be able to resist blowing the doors off some fool in a so called "muscle car"with your 7000 diesel truck. With those mods, you willl have a very limited powertrain warranty, although it shouldn't afffect the rest of the bumper to bumper coverage. I did my own installation, its not overly difficult, but may require fine tuning,Id plan on paying betwen 8-10 hr labor with tuning, and an update kit. If your going to keep your truck awhiel this may be the best investment you make ,since all power mods are being wasted now. My father has a DTT setu pin his truck too, once we put his in,I no longer felt stock was adequete, and did mine within a month of his.

1. Why worry about warranty with DTT

2. Think $3000. 00 depending on condition and options... ... I won't quote a price.

3. Shifting as more to do with how the V/B is set up and yes you will like the 89 as it workes great with 230 HP or 480 HP.

Strict-9 rode in my truck and commented how mine was set up for smoother shifts as mine is a daily driver also, I personally can't see why I would change to a 91 or 93 unless I was dragging allot.

Thanks for the help guys!

'Preciate the responses! Was waiting to get all the info I could before calling, and sure enough y'all came thru for me. Looks like I'll HAVE to be installing this myself, do to $ constraints. Again, thanks for the help!!

Dixie,

Warranty is dependent upon the owner and dealer. Some dealers are cooperative with warranty claims and others just flat out refuse warranty. Some individuals have taken the position of “I am My Own Warranty Station”. This may be the best approach.

I look at the relationship of modifications and warranty with these questions. Does the modification have a proven record of reliability?

Is my dealer knowledgeable and capable enough to honestly evaluate my truck?

If this modification adversely effects other components, will I accept that responsibility?

If you go with the COMP and DD 2’s you will be where I am today. In April I will have, DTT’s 89% TC and VB installed in my daily driver :D

DTT can set the shifting to your preference. Pricing can be found at DTT’s web site. Call Bill and/or talk to your DTT installer. They will be able to explain all the details and built an 89%, 91%, or 93% TC and VB that will suit your needs and keep you :D

BTW, tell the wife she is part of the family:D

Dixie, let me put it this way. If I had to go back to the old stock trany. I would be going to the dealer and trading for a 6spd. and I HATE to shift.

Your going to love it. Oo.
