Please pardon my bluntness here as I'm not trying to push anyone's Hot Button. .

I would just like to know since you guys/gals have been running aftermarket intakes for a while now. . Do you see any clear MPG/Performance improvement?

Thanks. .

I suspect power/economy gains observed other than something more elaborate than "seat-of-pants", or casual driving, will be hard to present with accuracy. In my own case, I replaced the Smarty I had owned previously with the DTT intake, and then dynoed slightly better power and torque (numbers in my sig) - but the dyno runs - tho' on the same dyno - were 2 years apart, and while meaningful to ME, would never satisfy the critical with axes to grind one way or another.

The same is true as far as economy is concerned - I haven't taken any decent trips of a length or terrain sufficient to form a basis for comparison.

Better power and economy with the DSS over OEM? I have absolutely NO doubt - just no reliable proof, nor do I really think the gains are likely to be dramatic - just a nice tidy gain from a device that really dresses up the engine bay... ;):D

Mines a '96. the response was more geared to the mild steel option and painting it. IT's strange cause the tube off the turbo is aluminum but the i/c to manifold is steel. I dont think anything large enough came off to damage anything but it makes you wonder what another 12 years might result in. . HHhmmmmmmmmmm?

"Sorry that you bristle at my "search" comments - but fact is, this board is CONSTANTLY barraged by repititious requests on subjects already thoroughly covered again and again, from guys - and forgive my bluntness here - either too ignorant, or too lazy to find stuff for themselves - and instead, simply type a few lines, and sit back, waiting for others do do the searching FOR them - and then we end up - like this time, with yet another thread on the same subject already covered many times before... "

SO WHAT! If people have questions, ask 'em. No one is abusing their membership by asking a question even if it has been asked 1000 times before.

Not to beat a dead horse - but did you ever look in the phone book of a large metropolitan city for someone named "John Smith"? Yeah, sure - take your pick of the HUNDREDS of listings you will see!

Same for threads on some of the common subjects on boards like this one - do a search on "oil", or "transmissions" - or perhaps "clutches" - and see how many threads there are - and how many you must THEN wade thru to find the precise info you are looking for - and EVERY TIME that same, repititious thread is AGAIN started, it just adds yet another to the long list the next guy has to wade thru for what HE is looking for, just like adding still another John Smith to that phone directory...

Problem eventually, with vastly "over-threaded" subjects, is that the search feature becomes pretty useless, exactly BECAUSE the over burdened subject threads get to be too many for searchers to wade thru for THEIR specific info needs - so what do they do? Simply give up and post yet ANOTHER thread on that SAME, already overworked subject!

Pretty unnecessary, for subjects already fully covered, and easily available to those smart enough and not too lazy to do their own searching, using the board feature that was PROVIDED just for that very purpose! ;)
