I want to eventually install DTT's Torque conv. and valve body on my truck. How many of you guys installed the parts yourself and what kind of a job is it. I have good mechanical abilities, the tools and a place to do it in. I also have the fact. shop manuals. I have done services and installations of automatics only, never any real internal work on them. I am not worried about changing a torque convertor, just a little shy about the valve body. I have read about some installing the valve body only. I am going to do both at the same time. I have also read about having to put a resistor in line somewhere..... for what reason? I'm on the central coast of Calif. and would be willing to pay one of you whom have done it before to help me when I am ready. Thanks Chris

Chris,

The VB is actually pretty simple. It can be removed and replaced without removing the transmission. Careful work and the proper torque according to the service manual and all is well. The only PITA is the park rod. With the transmission in L the E clip in the end of the park rod can be removed and the rod pushed up free of the VB.

However, there is an internal seal that should be replaced in the front drum with one from DTT. The stock one does not work right. THIS thing can be a big hairy deal! The transmission must be removed and partially dissasembled to do this.

You should check with Bill K. about this and make sure that it applies to your truck.
