Kevin, good to see ya... you sorry dog! :-laf "Billy" is running like he has braces on his legs. Time to get some new legs and let him flow free. There are too many choices and I'm just trying to narrow it down some.

Give me a shout sometime!

The reason is that it was recommended by by my installer Fred Swanson VIA Bill at DTT. I guess they are going with a stronger Torque converter cover and the Billet flex plate. I don;t know if that is just because I have a dually and TST etc... I will be around 500 Hp and towing heavy.

Cheers, Bill

Well Bill, I takled to DTT themselves and they told me that the '04. 5 & '05's flex plate wasn't machined as well as the previous years were. They recommend all '04. 5 & '05's have the flex plate done no matter what. I too should be sitting close to 500 hp if not a little over after everything is done w/ all my mods(FASS 150 gph is going on as well). Only one way to find out, DYNO Oo. They also said that if any person desides they will run "twin" turbos that it is a must. Twin turbos will put to much pressure on a stock flex plate, but any single will be fine. So, it looks as if I won't need one. Just one less thing to add to the big bill :-laf

Thanks for the update! Since I can not rule out twins at some point it is a good thing I will be getting that! :-laf

Just thought Id comment on the fexplate issue from my experience - I've had my DTT for 9 months now and absolutely love it! Although I opted for no flexplate upgrades and I also put twins on the truck begining of Dec. and my flexplate lasted 2 months and BOOM!! - Shrapnel!!! So I've got the transmission outa the truck n plan on putting the billet flexplate in tonight! I would recommend anyone going for the 500 mark to go w the billet flexplate cause breaking a stock one sucks!!

The only good thing bout it is that my shredded flexplate ads an awesome touch of character as a wallpiece above my desk!!

Dad's '03 is probably gonna need some transmission work sooner or later. Engine has Banks 6 gun, KN intake, and full 4" exh. , but the trans is stock. What would those of you with a DTT recommend for someone with modest power, but who tows a 22K load a dozen times a year. I'm thinkin' all the billet goodies is a bit overkill. I probably wouldn't have to twist his arm to upgrade the TC, VB, and get a shift program of some sort. What does he need?

I know all I need is a better clutch... manuals are so easy to "bomb". ;)

If you don't mind me asking, what are you guys paying for the full DTT trans? I am considering a trans for my next mod to prevent any possible problems in the future. Thanks, and if anyone knows any good dealers in the NY/NJ area let me know.

Cattletrkr, tell your dad to do everything at once, he won't regret it. Espically if he pulls heavy, and may want to add even more power down the road, having a top notch transmission done all at once, he will be glad he did.

LAMiller, the flexplate on the 01's are a night and day difference from the 03's like mine. I spoke to a DTT rep and he knows what my upgrades are and he said I will be around the 500 hp mark and that I won't need a billet flexplate until I go to twin turbo's. Heck, my installer told me that my flexplate will be able to with stand 575 hp before I need a billet one. Don't think I'm heading in that direction for a while (twin turbo's) that is. IMHO, I think everyone who is thinking about a DTT transmission should call them directly and tell them what your plans are for your truck, and they will lead you in the right direction. One of the nicest companies I've dealt with. Easy to talk to, and they love to talk trucks.
