I had my trans DTT'ed back in 03 and all has been fine since. Just wondering, I can't seem to find them anywhere on the web? Anything happen that I didn't realize to them? Anyone have their site address?

I see you're in PA, Joe. Not to start a war, but my suggestion would be to call Goerend's, 563-778-2719. They're in Iowa and don't do full in-house builds anymore, but they can give you the name of one of their builders in your area.

My first DTT went 150k and internally bled it's self to death. Bill said not his fault and did not help in any way.

Second trans had to removed while I was watching them finish the install, had to come out because the bolt heads were too long that held the flex plate on. They removed the bolts and did not re do the red LocTite. Later while in SoCal there started a knocking that ended up being the bolts started coming loose. Made it back home and expected him to help out with the repair. All I got from Bill was he could recommend someone to sleeve the oblong holes in the flex plate. It was a expensive billet unit.

His guys did NOT do the install properly plain and simple and he would not step up!!! I witnessed it!!!

I paid Randy's Off Road in Smoky Point WA to fix the problem. My crank bolt holes were shot. They had a jig made that allowed them to drill out the holes and then retap to a larger bolt. Bought a new flex plate from BD and machined holes to fit the new bolts. Trans is still working with about 150k.

They had great customer service at one time, but as time went on their arrogance started surfacing. Too bust with their Racing plain and simple.

My experience with DTT years ago was nothing but positive. When we were racing heavily with the DHRA, more than once one of the guys here running DTT's would explode something on the track. We would pull the trans and overnight it back to Bill. By Friday it would be back from the shop and installed in enough time to race the next weekend. Couldn't have asked for anything better from them. I'm actually surprised to hear anything negative since our experience was so positive.

funny to hear badmouthing of DTT,,i've had there stuff in my trans for over 14 years, still going strong,it spent years towning a race trailer, has about 500,000 on it now,and that's with one of his early TC with the regular back cover, first one had an issue with the Lock up clutch lining,Bill covered all costs to my transmission guy and overnighted parts,Bill told me i wouldn't break it,and he;s been right,i was hoping he was still around as i want to do my Megacab 48RE with his stuff again, but it seems nobody is minding the shop anymore,

Sorry telling the truth about what my experience has been is NOT "Bad Mouthing".

Like I said I referred many people to him and YES they were all over customer service but as time went on things changed BIG time. Even before Stephan's Death.

I am missing the point of your post, his Dtt trans went 15 years.A safe bet your new trans will not go 15 years

Bob, I had my Trans built back in 03 and just about 100k ago = trans is fine. I was looking around and couldn't locate DTT's website. I have web address now "and" some unknown information from some of the others who've posted. Thanks to all.

Joe

Had a DTT TC and valve body for 100K (about half towing 10K lbs). Loved the trans and think 100k is a reasonable expectation. Had to rebuild with a ValAir and RevMax body. Very similar to the DTT in performance, price and drive-ability for anybody interested.

I was hoping they were still around, my 47RH DTT in my 1995 has been great, I replaced it around 2006 I think. It still shifts like new even with my heavy towing. The stock 48RE was much better in the 2003, but its getting time to rebuild it. I've been babying it and pulling the heavy stuff with the 95, that old DTT 47RH will idle a 16K trailer around a dirt lot. The old billet single disc TC has lasted great even with the strong running 12 valve.

That is a impressive statement. If you ever do need to replace the DTT TC I would recommend looking at the ValAir line of convertors. I went through two convertors after my DTT died looking for a similar performing single disc and never found one. I finally settled on a triple disc ValAir on my 47RE that is as close to the DTT I could expect. Low stall is great and for a extra $100 you get a lifetime warranty. They will ship a replacement (you pay shipping) to you or a shop and you return the core. I'm happy with that deal.
I was heartbroken when I heard DTT wasn't building trannys or at least not like it was back in the late 90's. That product couldn't be beat.

TCS Canada used to - and still do - make the old DTT converters.

You can get them in single/billet cover & triple/billet cover from 87% to 93% efficiency & several flavors of stall speeds.

Here's a billet cover single disk with 89% efficiency & approximately 600rpm less than stock stall, for example.
