I do not think you could buy anything from ATS, BD, DTT or Goerend Bros. that was junk. They all make the transmission work and put a lot more power to the ground reliably. Call all of them and pick the one that suits what YOU do with YOUR truck. Have them hit the high points and go with the one that fits what you want out of the upgrade.

If I had an unlimited budget, and could get any transmission from any of the builders I would pick (drumroll please) an NV5600! The 6 speed is what I want.

Uh... no thanks. :D

Why did you turn it off? Just clean out all of the folders. I had the same problem until I fould out I needed to clean out the "sent messages" and message tracking folders too.

I have cleaned it, and cleaned, and don't know what the heck to do. Just send me some e-mails at -- email address removed --

Torque Converters

I have a Dunrite tripple disk converter. It works great and I've regularly towed a total of 20,000 lbs to Alaska every year since I've had my truck, a 99 4X4. (128,000 miles).

I only have 455 hp though. transmission pressures are low and shifts are great under full throttle.

Can't slip it. I believe that Dunrite did a lot of research on the initial triple disk with a billet cover. Lower costs than most, I think.

I'm sure that the others are all great also. I like to be able to lockup the torque converter, in any gear.

Works for me!

my stock trans lasted over 105,000 miles and most of that was bombed! But the last 30,000 I couldn't floor it in low RPM lock-up or it would slip. It was OK around town, but I couldn't have towed with it. It was only a matter of time before the stock TC disintegrated and then the debris from that would have choked/ruined my trans.

This is exactly where I'm at now. I've got 111,000 miles and she started slipping a little around 100,000.

I have a Goerend Brothers complete transmission on order and hope to stick it in next week. Dave asked me whether I wanted real firm shifts or slightly firmer than normal shifts -- I went with the slightly firmer ones. He recommended that.

I talked with Goerend, ATS, and DTT -- all great folks that were knowledgeable and nice to talk with. I believe all their units will accomplish the same basic job with no dissapointment.

Since I work a crazy schedule and swing shift, a very important consideration for me was not having to drive too far to get it worked on - none had installers located near me - and not having the truck tied up long since I drive it daily. Though my stock transmission seems to shift and function ok - except for the torque converter slippage - it does have a lot of miles, so I didn't want to just put a new converter and valve body in. So my most efficient way of changing trannies, without having the truck down long, was to order the whole unit and change it myself.

I hope to get the new transmission real soon. I guess once I get it in and put some miles on it I will know whether I made a good decision or not.

You made a good decision. Dave Goerend is a straight up guy who won't try to deceive you. Many of the members have his trans and I haven't heard one person complain about it.
