Question, I'm a new diesle owner, 02 quad cab 4x4 auto. Love the truck want to pump it up! What is this DTT I keep hearing about in relation to the transmission?

DTT is what they are using to kill the mosquitoes to stop the spread of west nile virus... .....

Just kidding

DTT is Diesel Tranmission Technology and they make all kinds of trans goodies, such as torque convertors, valve bodies, complete trannies, etc. You can check them out here. www.dieseltrans.com

that was DDT silly !

;)

Just recently went to Abbotsford BC and had a new DTT valve body and Edge EZ box put on. Transmission shifts so much better and more positive than the slushy feeling of the old one. Also, performs 100% better when towing my 24 ft 5er. I had installed a tripple pillar gauge setup prior to this.

IF you tow, do it. You will be more than satisfied with the results.

2001 Quad Cab, A/T , 4:10 gears, long bed, Smitty nerf bars, LineX liner, camper/tow pack, otherwise stock except for the above mentioned items.

DTT I just installed a kit with valve body, torque convertor, bunch of other goodies in the kit. Man does this truck fly now!I highly recommend them. Kirk

I am thinking of just going with their valve body and not the convertor after adding a edge ez. When towing I have felt the stock convertor shudder when shifting under light throttle. I don't have the funds for the complete settup right now.

Will just the valve body do the trick with the ez?

ah, funny you should ask. I just talked to Stephen at "DTT" yesterday and asked the same question. He set me straight. You're really gonna have to R&R the transmission to do a valve-body and upgrade. So you might as well do a TC. while you there, as you will :D do one sooner or later if you do a box and injectors.

Also said something that got me thinking. My 02 has 20K miles now. He said it's a lot cheaper to do the upgrades now then to crash a transmission. Then you get to buy:( the whole enchalada

Right now your wondering should I do this do I really need it, you do need it. Do it all at once and if you going to turn it up more than a box and small injectors get all the billet stuff too. The billet stuff wasn't avalible (input shaft and hub) when I did mine 18k ago so I figure next year I do that but there is alot of power between now and then.

I was thinking that would be the total solution. Problem is I hate to give up my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty on the transmission which is what I will be doing if I change parts in it. I have 9000 miles on the truck now. Mabe if I go ahead and do the mods I won't need the factory warranty on the transmission anymore.

Just trying to talk myself( and wife) into spending the money to upgrade a new truck that should have been done from the factory.

your warranty is for hard ENGINE parts only, not the transmission, pumps, or anything bolted onto it , and if you have a real anal dealer, they don't even have to cover a water pump:--)

the 36K warranty is the only thing you'll be voiding and only on the trans itself

Really?

I was was under the impression that I have a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty on the complete drivetrain,at least that what I was told by the salesman. Dodge had this program when I ordered my truck in April. Rest of the truck has a 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty, excluding the engine which is 100,000

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

Mark

Well as soon as I finally fix the PITA hunting TC ( been busy but I did look at all the fixes to try ) I will be getting a DTT trans/TC. I will leave this to a good shop- probably massdiesel. No wars here- There are other vendors that have good products - and different transmission tuning opinions. I will leave it at that. Really do not want to get into a religious discussion.

I'd rather have a DTT than a warranty. The stock autos have lasted quite well in a few trucks, but not in others.

It's extremely rare to use & get your money's worth out of a warranty in the early going, when the vehicle is new. The warranties cost about $1500-2500, depending on dealer. I always felt it was better to put at least that much in a savings account, and add to it, then the money would be mine to repair the vehicle when it gets a few miles/years on it. Very rarely ever had to touch the savings account. :D

With a DTT, the truck will be better than a new one.

If you want to pump up the engine,DTT is a great way to ensure the trans is up to putting down the power. From the few trannys ive had apart,i already see that the internals arent always in factory specs, from the factory,so having a DTT system installed, and the trans gone thru is the only way to be sure its going to give you maximum performacne and longevity. There is literally no room to addd power reliably with a stock trans in our application, especially if you tow.
