OK guys I just put a SB DD 3850 clutch in my truck. I got the 12 valve slave and master to use but the actuator rods are different. I'll be honest, I let someone else put it in. What they did was cut the end off the 12 valve actuator and the other end off my original and welded them together. They said the rod is the exact length of the stocker (Mine).

What are you guys doing that do the slave swap in a 24 valve 5 speed? My clutch engages right near the floor and it's a little weird, I don't have a problem driving and it shifts fine, it's just weird. If you did this swap, do you have a low pedal? What about stock slave and a DD?

By the way my pedal effort feels just about like stock, I really can't tell a difference. Engagement is smooth but very quick, very little pedal movement and shes fully engaged. I've driven it very little so far, but I like what I see.

I know Peter sells a new adjustable rod. maybe he has an adjustable that has the two different ends on it as well.

BTW. when i put my DD in i had the same problem. i bought the rod and about a week later the slave went out. So my question to you is: are you sure your slave is good?

the new 24v one i installed works perfectly without the adjustable rod so my problem was the slave was going bad.

Engaging near the floor is good, especially if you plan on sled pulling since you will have to slip it a little. Call Peter see what he says about the whole situation. ;)

I talked to Woody at SBC and he said it's good because the dual disk will wear in more than a regular clutch because it has 4 wearing surfaces instead of 2 and will end up a little higher on the engagement. It makes sense so I wanted to see what you guys had to say.

I do plan on pulling, that's my whole reason for getting this clutch, it's just that I'm used to the high engagement.

As far as I know the slave is good, it's brand new but I guess that doesn't mean anything.

I've gotta say I've been studying clutches for two years knowing I'd go with a DD and do some pulls since I did a few pulls with the stocker (I had a good one) reading this site for that time lead me to the SBC, that and some vendor talk (not SBC directly, but someone who carries multiple dual disks) besides that... WWSPD!

Also, Scott (SRadke), I went looking for your thread today about the rod because I remembered seeing it before, thanks for your input, I think I'll find a spare one and make it like yours, that way I can make the engagement higher and adjust it for wear in.
