There has been many discussions here about pre and post turbo placement of the thermocouple for the EGT. I have heard the benifits of both locations. Pre- more accurate cylinder temp, Post- more accurate turbo temp for shut down purposes.

My question is how viable it would be to do both and run them through a two position switch in the cab to monitor both with a single gauge.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think any cutting and splicing the thermocouple wires to put a switch in would comprimise their accuracy. If I were going to do it I would get one of the dual EGT gauges for use on V8 diesels such as a Cat 3208. I don't know who makes it but it's probably available through caterpillar. There are surely other ways to do it as well that's just all I've seen.
